It depends on what kind of fiction you like. The graphic novel series that had the biggest emotional impact on me is Y: The Last Man

Watchmen – The Killing Joke. Just fair warning though both series have very dark themes. Great novels though !!!

Do you want Marvel, DC, indie, or manga? For DC, I would recommend Batman: Year One and the Suicide Squad series. For Marvel, my must reads are Civil War, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. For manga, I always recommend Death Note, Fruits Basket, and Rurouni Kenshin.

Depends on what you like. They are just like novels where they have different genres. Do you like superheros or macabre punk or horror even manga which is another whole subset with more genres. My suggestion hit up your local shop if you have one the people that run them and work at them love talking about them and are great at suggesting. Get yourself a box (ask them about what this is as well) and you can be poor like me lol. I actually haven’t been too active in years but I started them very late (like 28 I think) and that was how I did it 🙂 my most recent fav is saga … Great series!

@Sydney transporter and the pro are good. I was never super into superheros cause I felt overwhelmed one where to start and the elitist culture turned me off but I did enjoy the 1812 civil war story line and of course the killing joke is always a classic. Also unrelated midnight nation is great but ends abruptly it’s the Firefly of graphic novels it was one of the first ones I was recommended

Persepolis, American Born Chinese, Relish, Blankets, Fun Home, Ghost World. Any of the TinTin books which would be called graphic novels today, and any collection of Calvin and Hobbes strips.

What genre of regular book do you like? I would try that genre in a graphic novel first. I love graphic novels but not much horror, so I skip those.
