Download the app onto your other devices as well. They’ll all link with your account so that you can pick up your book on any off your devices.

Is paperwhite a Kindle tablet version?

Vivi

It’s one of their e-ink readers. The Kindle Fire is the tablet.

I love my Kindles. I have a second gen fire hd 7 and a 3rd gen fire hdx 8.9. when I’m on vacation I can browse the internet and check my email, I can watch movies on Netflix, and I can read as many books as I want.

You can get the older gen fire hd on eBay pretty cheap.

Definitely the paperwhite! They’re releasing a new kindle, so the paperwhite may go on sale soon!

Do you know the name of the new Kindle to be released?

The Oasis, I believe!

Carol

Thank you

Vivi

They just released the Oasis 2 a few months ago. Though when they do plan on upgrading the Paperwhite, I hope they merge it and the Voyage into one Kindle, because the Voyage is now at that awkward position of too low specs at not much of a cheaper price point than the Oasis.

0
Jessica

Vivi is correct. I have the new oasis

Ashley

Oh I saw a preorder for the rose gold color! That’s why I thought it hadn’t come out yet. I didn’t think it was brand new but didn’t know if this was a new version that had more bells and whistles!

Jessica

@Ashley that color is new

And they only make the kindle oasis in batches

Yes!

Vivi

Yes. The base model Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage, and Kindle Oasis are all e-ink readers, from cheapest to most expensive.

0
Sharlene

Correct. a KINDLE fire is a tablet, a kindle is an e-book reader.

0
TiareQuestion author

Okay and the fires are practically like a tablet that I can use Netflix, etc right

2
Sharlene

@Tiare Yes, check email, etc.

0
Vivi

@Tiare this is what an e-ink screen looks like. It looks just like a book and doesn’t have a glare in direct sunlight.

Erm, not that I’m offended at being a girl…I’ll weigh in with a man’s opinion (to be read in a deep voice!). If you want it simply to read from then go for E ink (Paperwhite, Voyager etc) but if you want it to also do other things then the Fire is the way ahead. Now I’m going to paint my nails. ?

Kindle Fire.

I have a Kindle Voyage, which is an e-ink reader, one step along from the Paperwhite. I’m happy with a dedicated e-reader as I can access the net and apps on my phone or laptop.

I had the Kindle Fire and it gave me horrible headaches. Can’t read on my phone either. I just got the Paperwhite and it’s amazing. Looks just like a book with no glare and you can read in sunlight.

Paperwhite. Have both it and the Fire.
Paperwhite is lighter, needs recharging only every few days, can be read in the sunlight.
Fire runs out of charge very quickly, can’t be seen in bright sunlight, but is useful for online activity on holiday (in the shade, or inside only) if you need / want it.

Start with the kindle app.om your phone or a tablet you have to see if you like it. I read more from my phone than actual kindle.

The Kindle Paperwhite is a really great ereader. If you are just wanting something for reading only then definitely go for an ereader (basic Kindle, Paperwhite, Voyage or Oasis) and not the kindle fire because it’s a tablet. It really depends on what your needs and wants are. Also would like to throw in that the Fire and tablets are back lit and the kindles with lighting are actually front lit, so not harmful to your eyes, especially if reading for long periods.

If you want an ereader only, I would choose either the kindle paperwhite, kindle voyager, or kindle oasis. I have the paperwhite and oasis and love both.
If you want a tablet, I would do an iPad. I love my mini and my pro, the air and regular are a bit more bulky.
