Maybe Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden ? Harry Potter is pretty much a given. Judy Blume books (she seems to be a fave with pre-teens and teens). I also loved books by Norma Klein, growing up. Shel Silverstein is a good author for that age range. Also, for authors: M.E. Kerr and Beverly Cleary. There’s also the Boxcar Children books (series) by Gertrude Chandler Warner, and the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis.
Then of course, you have classics like Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, books by Mark Twain and more.

My son loves the Magic Treehouse series. There are tons of them. He also likes the Ricky Ricotta’s Robot series. There are 9, one for each planet (and dwarf planet Pluto).

That isn’t the real Necronomicon. The real one is book of spells and calling up spirits.
