Well, on the one hand, a good book helps me to experience things that I have not experienced in my life, and on the other hand, a good book takes me OUT of my life. Also, you can learn ANYTHING if you read. ^_^

I get to experience different things and emotions that are beyond what I’m experiencing in real life. It allows me to explore and introspect at the same time.

A different place, a different time, whatever it may be … it is an escape from reality (ha ha just heard Queens bohemian rhapsody in my head as I typed that).

I am extremely introverted and a homebody. Going to work day in, day out and dealing with people gets to be too much. It gives me something to look forward to after work and a way to escape.

I live more lives and go more places in the pages of a book than I could ever dream of going in reality. I learn from the mistakes of the characters in whose shoes I tread in any given book. I make the mistakes with them. I cry with them. I get angry with them. For me, reading is about traveling and learning to empathize!

I love the magic of words, experience of different times, places and cultures while sitting in your own house. Reading makes you more sensitive, understanding and I feel you are able to comprehend a situation better.

So, you are finding the type of people whom you need and being the way you dream yourself, through books. Good. But, don’t be lost in limbo.

0
CJ

Nah, it’s more like I read books bc it’s a passion and escapism. Escapism in a way that I love the feeling of freeing my mind from anything around me and focus on the characters life and its story of course.

0
Delia

Escapism, experiencing different cultures, knowlege.

Perspective. It allows me to step into situations that help me understand other people’s points of view and therefore I can become more understanding of their perspectives. Wether I agree with them or not doesn’t matter, it’s just that opportunity to understand their lives and how they live them.

Knowing Different perspectives, experiencing different cultures and emotions, travelling to different places, to escape from reality, living in different places with single body without moving anywhere, knowing the struggle, love, pain, hate one go through, to know about unknown thing or feeling.., to get entertainment, to pass time, wow! Many….

I love reading because I always get lost in the book. It’s no longer words on a page. I’m seeing everything through the main characters eyes and feeling everything they feel. I’m becoming them. I don’t see the words anymore, I see everything as if it were real. I can travel to so many different places. And experience so many new situations and even feel new feelings. I have had the biggest crushes on some fictional characters because of that. Reading is a beautiful escape from reality that a person sometimes needs.

I read a lot of non fiction, so I feel better educated and/or aware of the topics I am reading. When I read fiction, I enjoy the new life I get to step into. The adventure and, typically, the chance it offers to defeat evil, do good, and/or accomplish something important. I have anxiety issues and it helps me relax (sometimes).

I get nearly all my books from my library now. I can’t afford to buy them anymore, so I read as much as I can from the library and the ones I absolutely love go on my wishlist.

0
Keirston

I know that having shelves full is a fantastic feeling and I also know the feeling of barely making it (and sometimes not), but I’d rather have a chance to read a book and have to give it back than have no books at all! My library is a blessing to me! I hope you can find some books to enjoy! I know my library book sales are super cheap. Like 50 cents for paperbacks and a dollar for hardbacks. Hopefully you find something!

It gives me immense pleasure, peace, an escape from reality when things aren’t going smooth for me, a purpose, a globe-trotting and time-travelling experience while being in a single place. Books also give me hope when I am in despair and an insight when I most need it.

When the book is good, you get to see yourself in the characters. You get to feel their pain. You get to have friends from other worlds, friends you can never actually have. You get to see them responding in the ways you were afraid to. They express your oppressed wild side; each character becomes one of your family members, a friend, a lover, and maybe even a mother.
They reveal their true character without fear of judgement. They talk without fear of being misunderstood.
Books are your friends, and I can’t leave a friend alone.

I get inexpressible feeling, and joy. It keeps the shit away from me. It gives meaning to the time I am spending. They give us different perspectives, introduces new characters. It fills our souls with things and people that we lack in our real lives. It filters our thoughts and ideas. They sharp our imagination and ideas. It is a holly bath. Finally, it is a fun.

0
Annalyn

yay. exactly that. when my real world is kinda fucked up, i turn to my books and escape all the shits. at least for a time, i get to see another life, share other forms and realize that while my real world is damned, i have this other world that does not care and fully understand.

1
Annalyn

and all of them, all of the books I’ve read, even blogs or newspaper articles are worth reading. i care not how the others view a particular piece. all i know is that reading matters.

Well I write so it gives me insight on how other writers of the genre speak and in turn that helps my writing become better. But I Love living in the world’s of the novels I read. I read mostly fantasy for that reason. It’s crazy though because when I get to good parts in books, like a good action scene, I physically start shaking from excitement because I’m so caught up in the moment. I love books so so much, and I love knowing there are so many out there like me!❤?❤
