What cookbook(s) would you recommend for me?

What cookbook(s) would you recommend for me to read in the year 2018? One of my New Year’s resolutions is to learn more about cooking and baking. 🙂

For baking you can’t go wrong with Paul Hollywood’s How To Bake or Mary Berry’s Baking Bible. They both have a range of cookery books, though Paul Hollywood focuses mainly on baking, whereas Mary Berry does general cooking as well.
For general cooking try Delia Smith’s Complete Cookery Course (its the go to book for novices in UK/Ireland) which is idiot-proof.

That depends what kind of cook you are — I have several favorites, but some of them are loosey-goosey “adapt to your taste and what you have on hand” and some of them are more structured. Let me know and I’ll share some of my favorites.

Have you seen America’s Test Kitchen on PBS? The best cooking school around. They have several cookbooks. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Mediterranean-Cookbook-Vibrant-Kitchen-Tested/dp/1940352649/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514932710&sr=8-3&keywords=america%27s+test+kitchen+cookbook&refinements=p_72%3A2661618011

Where do you live? What type of food do you enjoy? Are you interested in baking or comfort food or regional dishes? You can explore everything from The Art of Cooking to a local church covered dish collection. The choices are endless.

Cotton Country is like the Bible here in Alabama for most ladies I know. I have used it extensively thanks to my mother in law who have me a copy when I got married 22 years ago. My husband says if I get one more cookbook we are getting a divorce…lol. I have all of my grandmothers old southern living cookbooks too. Wonderful!!

Also, the books put out by the Alabama chapters of Bell Telephone are great. They are called Calling All Cooks. There are a lot of similar recipes but some of them have small differences that sometimes change the entire flavor of the recipe.
