Don’t say. If you tell me that the book had an epic plot twist, then I’ll be expecting it and the plot twist won’t be nearly as epic.

That’s one of my pet peeves. They even say it on the actual book covers themselves nowadays or at least on the synopsis on Goodreads or amazon. It totally ruins the experience for me because I’m wondering “when will it happen” the whole time.

Maia

@Laura Exactly! It takes the surprise out of the perfect plot twist because you know that it’s there! That’s the whole point of a plot twist. It’s supposed to be a surprise! Stop ruining the author’s plot twist!

Exactly. I enjoyed a book recently. It was cleverly and well written (starting with present and going back in time and had two plot twists. The major omg you will never guess one – I did. The other one was revealed half way through and I hadn’t guessed.

I too thought Water for Elephants had a wonderful “wow, I didn’t see that coming” ending but I have to say, I REALLY didn’t see ahead to the ending of Gone Girl. I’ve heard they’re talking about making another one. I don’t know that they can top the original. Also, Rosalind Pike was WONDERFUL!! We just saw her in Hostages and she was amazing in that one as well.

Guessed it, if something is over hyped like that I am going to try and guess. Sharp Objects has a twist and is much better IMO.
