Gilead by Marilynne Robinson (but it’s a hard choice, and my opinion is subject to change with my mood).

Many… But the latest I would say is The Book Thief. I really felt for the people in the story.

I read it while I was suffering from depression, causing insomnia. I gave up on the idea of going to bed, and read all night, keeping my mother as a company. The feeling, which made me so much focused, allowing gentle solitude. It was perfect. I have soft spots for this Book Thief.

Same here! I never thought I would love a book so much before that. It has been awhile since I have read it , I think it is time for a re read. I haven’t read a book twice before- that may be my first time. I am hoping that I get around to doing that. 🙂

I have just finished In The Midst of Winter by Isabel Allende… found it not her usual standard … and I was disappointed with it … could I ask about … The Island Beneath The Sea …. what was it about the tittle that made it one of your favourite…. ta much xxxx

0
Silena

@Louise I don’t like Isabel Allende very much. But one day my best best friend gave it to me for my birthday. I HAD to read it. And… I started to think, to realise, to wonder… it has been the right book in the right moment. Special, to me ?
