So far my son and I read The Maze Runner series, Series of Unfortunate Events, the Divergent series and a few stand alones. My ten year old and I have read all the Beverly Cleary books, The One and Only Ivan (❤️), Harriet the Spy, Lisa and Lottie, books by C S Adler and by Sylvia Cassedy. We are working on the Doll People series by Ann Martin.
Chronicles of Narnia series is my top one. I’m interested in reading Harry Potter with them, though I’ve never read it myself (and that’s partly why I want to read that series with them). And with my daughters, all the books by my favorite author (Robin Hardy).
My girls are 16 and 19. I read everything and anything to them. When they were infants I would read whatever I was reading. My ex-husband use to read Poe’s work to them! My younger daughter LOVED Shakespeare and I would read the plays to her when she 5 years old! She still loves Shakespeare! My older daughter liked poetry (which I hate) but I would read it to her when she was in grade school before bed.
Bible, then some classics– heidi, potter books, fairy tales– (aderson’s, the red, pink, green, etc..),all classics, my father’s dragon books, pippi longstocking, trumpet of the swan, the summer of the swans,my friend flicka, black beauty, archie comics, and casper, and wendy, etc..grown up classics, too (because yes they can learn even faster at a young age)..soo many more..

At the Back of the North Wind and The Lost Prince. I think all boys should read these books before they’re 10 years old and then again when they’re adults.
Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good very bad day, , the pain and the great one (to teach point of view) Little Bear series shows mother’s love, Amos and Boris (unlikely friendships) read a bedtime story every night as part of bedtime ritual.
Berinstein bears, loved little bear, harold and the purple crayon, harold and the carrot seed, crictor the boa constrictor, he witch next door, clifford the big red dog, amelia bedila, mary poppins, miss piggle wiggle , the black stallion, gullivers travels,
NARNIA! My children will be as obsessed as me or they will be disowned. Oh… and I want to read Don Quixote. The chapters are short, and it’s a really long book, plus funny. =D
If I ever have kids I will read them Roll Dahl and (if my dad still has them) the Rupert Bear books he read us when we were kids along with any other favourites… 🙂
