It’s going to sound bad, but 13 Reasons Why. I really thought it was going to be one of those YA books that I absolutely Loathe. But I really enjoyed reading it. I think it was something I could relate to.
I hadn’t seen the show. And I picked it up during Banned Book Week (Because I love to participate and like reading stuff I hadn’t read before.) So that was the main reason I bought it. It was just an interesting read, since the girl was bullied so I related a lot to it.
@Cassandra I have in the past forced myself to read books out of my go to genre of YA just to read something different. But there are way too many books I am interested to read, to read ones I think I won’t enjoy.
My mom, my sister, and I just started a book club together. This is our first month so we decided to pick something “seasonal”. Well my mom picked first and chose Dark Witch by Nora Roberts. I thought I was going to hate it but I’m almost finished and I’m actually really enjoying it! But that’s also part of why I wanted to start this with them because we all have e such different tastes in books that I think it will broaden our horizons ?
Kit Runner. When this book came out I wasn’t reading mainstream fiction, mostly horror and sf. But my sister kept telling me that I have to read it. I did and I really did like it. That book started me reading other genres than I was used to reading.
I wasn’t sure about The Count of Monte Cristo and ended up loving it. It’s long, but it’s one of those books where it’s so amazing, you don’t mind how long it is. Time very well spent.
Me too. I picked it up so many times and put it down, then I saw the movie (the Swedish one) an bought all three. I finished them in a weekend and have read the two written by David Lagerkrantz.
Outlander. When my mom gave it to me she said its classified as romance(which it was at the time) but said it was more historical fiction. I put it away as I’m not a romance fan at all. I got bored one day and decided to give it a try. Absolutely LOVED it. Favorite series ever!
@Latanya we read it with my book club a couple of years ago. I just loved it. She wrote a follow up to it also, “Glory Over Everything”. It was good, but not as good as the first.
Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. First book in the Pendergast series. Recommended by someone I worked with at the time. Took me a few tries to get into it. Ended up loving it. I own most of the books in the series so far. I HIGHLY recommend it!
After reading two series by Christine Feehan…I wanted to read her Dark series….but was not sure I would like it….Boy was I wrong…Loved Dark Prince and have read her ever since…..that was a number of years ago….still reading her….Well…at least a few of her paranormal series….that is…
