What book did you hate that everyone seemed to love???

-The Book Thief
-The Time Traveler’s Wife
The great Gatsby and Ethan froam…..
I also hate The Great Gatsby
So glad I’m not the only one. All my friends were all about seeing the movie and I kept saying no way i hated the book not gonna bother with the movie no matter how much i like sometime in the cast
It was so boring to me. I refused to see the movie as well.
Me too. I had a hard time paying attention to it because there was nothing going on to me. And I’m usually fine with books like that. Ingress that I don’t find to interesting. I just don’t retain much about them after I’m all done . But That one was the worst. I couldn’t remember it as I was reading it
It was just party after party. It seemed like nothing at all happened in forever. But it’s not my typical genre. I love dystopian and fantasy. I’m always in the young adult section, adult fiction has no imagination.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
This was a tough one. I had a hard time getting through it.
50 shades of grey! That series was so stupid I was pissed at myself for wasting money on it!
Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Giver, and Catcher in the Rye.
I loved the giver
I love the giver and Harry potter
Catcher in the Rye and Bossypants by Tina Fey
I also dislike twilight. Hate the first two books in the series.
50 Shades of Gray, Girl With Dragon Tattoo are a couple
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mambo_Kings_Play_Songs_of_Love
nice period love story
I also couldn’t get into Catcher in the Rye, but perhaps I should give it another go. I was maybe too young to really appreciate it the first time around.
I didn’t enjoy Catcher in Rye, but as I was reading reviews a lot of people hated it the first time around and then reread it like 5-10 years later and really enjoyed it.
The Dark Tower Series
I really loved it until the end! How could you hate a character of your own making THAT much?!
Never made it past the 3rd book
The ending was fantastic!
I think you either love it or hate it.
The girl with the dragon tattoo
The Orphan Train. I hated the ending, there was no closure, it just ended. My opinion.
Don’t ever bother reading this author’s book DESIGN LINES. It is very boring and amateurishly written. I considered it a gigantic waste of time.
I just bought this an hour ago from the used books for sale at my library and saw that the reviews weren’t so great :/
I loved the orphan train…☺
Girl on the train………
I’m with you there. I don’t understand what the hype was…
i thought, maybe rare case of movie, better than the book, but no, waste of money and time! lol
Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children
The Gold Finch
50 Shades
Road to Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
Both are very very good i love then both
The lovely bones!
yucky book
Cat’s Eye by Margaret Attwood
I had to study that one in high school and absolutely HATED it!
Girl in the Train.
Gone girl
I loved The Book Thief…didn’t like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I so agree about Time Travelers Wife….I also wasn’t crazy about All the Light we Cannot See
Ugh…that book made me so mad…it was just creepy & boring.
Anything Jodi picoult, James Patterson, Janet Ivanovitch
The Bible…
To Kill a Mockingbird. I get the point, and it’s a good point, but screw that book.
Girl on the train
Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
Girl on the Train…couldn’t finish it!
The girl on the train was good, the ending on the other hand sucked. I loved the girl with the dragon tatto bks! Orphan train made me ?..lol
I loved the Time Travellers Wife. I tried to read 50 Shades of Gray. It’s so awful !!! I made it through the first book. Her writing style completely changed for the second book. It’s like it was written by someone else.
The Sound and the Fury. Am a Faulkner fan, but have never been able to get through the first chapter.
Anything by Dean Koontz ….. people seem to love him but I find him long winded and he introduces caricature late.
I’m not a fan either. Even at 16 I found I just could not get into his writing or his storiee
Oh ya and 50 shades of grey …. total trash!
I refuse to read any of the 50 Shades books, because they misrepresent BDSM so horribly.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Also What Alice Forgot by Liana Moriarty.
Lovely Bones was soooo bland.
@Tara I agree 100 % I couldn’t get past page 42, & when I finally did she was talking about the killer’s mother leaving. You killed an innocent 14 year old girl & we’re supposed to feel sorry for you. I gave up after that.
@Serenity I gave up when the victim’s sister broke in the killers house and stole evidence. At this point, the police knew who they were looking for but didn’t go after him. It was like I was the only one who cared that a serial killer was on the loose.
I read the whole thing. I’m a special kind of stupid lol
50 shades of grey!!! I couldn’t even get through the sample!
Yes, thank you! I reread the first 7 chapters 3 times to try to get into the big buzz, but the writing was so pitiful and the story so dull…… didn’t even donate it so another’s time wasn’t wasted.
It is totally trash!!
omg. i hate it too!!
The Alchemist
OMG ME TOO
Fifty Shades of Gray
Dream catchers
Beloved
50 Shades and Pretty Girls
Catch 22
Twilight
So agree with time travelers wife.
I also agree with Time Traveler’s Wife-also The Girl on The Train.
The Alchemist!!!!
The Girl on the Train!!
The DaVinci Code- should have been right up my alley but I couldn’t get into it. And The Lord of the Rings….the Hobbit was good and then I just couldn’t do the rest.
I thought I was all alone with not caring for the Girl on the Train. Glad to see at least I’m not the only one.
The Twilight series. The first book was an okay-enough start. I could have overlooked all the flaws of the first if not for the rest of the series. Just… no.
Dracula. “But it’s a classic!” Yeah, a really bad one. Renfield was the only good part.
IT. I tried so hard to get into it, but I couldn’t bring myself to even get halfway through. King has a habit of bogging down his work with pointless details, and it makes me lose interest pretty quickly.
Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children
The Alchemist
Also liked, but didnt feel they live up to the hype:
Girl on the Train
The Host
The Girls
Angelas Ashes
The Shatter me series.
50 shades of grey
50 Shades is the one I refuse to read. I already know I’d hate it.
The Girl On the Train
Me Before You
Dracula
Girl On The Train. And I could not do 50 Shades of Gray. The sample was more than enough. Lol
A Court Of Thorn & Roses, Eleanor & Park. This why I hate popular or over hyped books & authors, they usually suck. I’l just stick with my favorite genres thriller & suspense.
I am Pilgrim (Terry Hayes)
gone girl
Oryx and Crake trilogy by Margaret Atwood
The nightingale, girl on a train, city of ashes series .
Eat, Pray,Love. I glanced at Fifty Shades, couldn’t even remotely read it. Anything by Nicholas Sparks.
Can’t stand Sparks either.
🙂
anything by Emilie Nothamb
Catch 22 & The Grapes of Wrath, & I too refuse to read 50 Shades of Grey
50 shades of Gray
The Book Thief
The Girl on a Train
Life of Pi
The Rosie Project
50 Shades of Grey (1 page read)
I was so mad I wasted time on the book thief.. Over 500 pages. I was waiting for something, anything to happen…and it never did!
Me too @Diana!
I’ve never read more than an excerpt from 50 Shades and never had a desire to, but the excerpt was very poorly written and I can only assume the entire book is based on that Is that why there’s this amount of dislike for it?
For me its:
Lord of the flies
To kill a mockingbird
Twilight
50 shades of grey
Percy jackson (although im giving this one another chance)
Omg I love the Book Thief…cried real tears during most of it!!
Lol I just found it so dull and boring…I liked the nightingale better as far as historical fiction.
i must read that one soon!!
Twilight, the girl with the dragon tattoo, the fault on our stars, and I just simply refused to read 50 shades of gray.
You and I, Li;;ian!
Eat, pray love
I Loved the Book Thief
all the lights we cannot see
50 shades lol don’t get me wrong I am down for some dirty sex reading but that book just sucked. Everything about it. No.
all the light we can not see
all YA books who become too much popular and becoming movies(Twilight, Divergent, The mortal instruments, etc), John Green, Nicholas Park, Girl on the train, Gone girl and all books who become too much popular. I try Strephen King & Mary Higgins Clark, but really hate it
Yeah n what’s up with The Girl everything. Geez!!
Fifty Shades of Gray………………..
My Sisters Keeper
twlight
Divergent series, amd twilight series
That’s an easy one! I couldn’t get but a few chapters into 50 Shades of Gray. So stupid.
>>> pushing myself threw on Sylvia Day’s – Pride and Pleasure — read aaand enjoyed her other books … p.s. — I Loved the Whole Series of 50 Shades ~ a love story of a broken young boy/adult man aaand the young lady by his side …
The Hunger Games..just could not stand that book
“A Man called Ove”
I agree!!! I did not like that book!
whew!! Thinking I was the only one.
Ove was ok but nothing special as a lot of people think it is.
50 Shades of Grey
catcher in the rye
To kill a mockingbird & catch 22
