I picked books that are already on my tbr list-I mostly get things from the library, though I own a lot too, so the books I’ve picked will be from both. I just requested my A and B books from the library today. I am not counting “The,” that would eliminate too many books
My goal is, for the first time in my adult life, not to set a goal. I want to do an experiment and see how much I read compared to when I’m counting. My hypothesis is I will actually read more. Normally I only read about 12 books between New Years and thanksgiving and another 12 between thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. I think if I’m not counting I might read a lot more in the first 11 months.
I want to read 24 books next year, or more. That’s two per month, which is a lot for me with work, studies, writing, hobbies, house and a teenage daughter.
My reading goal is to just enjoy any books that I manage to read. I don’t care how many, as I’m studying. Therefore, I am going for quality over quantity. ☺️
I’m leaning towards 75 or more if possible. I was able to complete 72 this year -not sure if I will be able to squeeze in one more! I’d also like to keep trying to read more classics and/or more nonfiction to continue opening up my preferences and knowledge! Books are such a gateway!
Mine was 200 but I knocked it down to 190 – have 189 now, so I’m sure I’ll finish that last one. 🙂
I’m thinking of making it fewer this year because I read a lot of books that I felt were a waste of my time – some, though not all, in the race to try to keep up with my goal. Fewer but better ones.
To not purchase new books or get books from the library til I have read all of the books that I own. Im just going to try to just add to a list. I thought about not even looking into new books that come out so that I can stick with what I have but I’m afraid that I will miss something great and never even know that it is out there.
Since I will be getting into college in June and I think I’d be busier than ever next year, I will be alloting myself 2 books per month (or 24 books for 2018)
I would like to swallow at least 10% of books which I have collected like a bee but never tested. Collection of unread books is so huge that sometimes it becomes a subject of anxiety to me. A teac
I don’t know what I’ll set my reading goal to yet because this year I started at 100 and then lowered it to 80 and only read 50 so I really don’t know…..
You know what? I’m just going to see how many I can read in a year. I’ll just keep tally on goodreads. If I put a numerical goal and don’t reach it, I’ll have a stank attitude. No stank attitudes! So we’ll see.
Its gonna be way down for me. I just started walking again so i really hope i still feel good for 2018.
Since i only read 20 books since my operation in May im thinking between maybe 35-40 and keep on hitting that treadmill and horseback riding. Maybe get a new job and learn new things.
But i have to admit, i do feel guilty. Books are the best companions.
To complete the princess diaries series, the wizard of oz series, and the mortal instruments series.
To not get overwhelmed and read like 6 books at a time!! Take my time. But there are too many books and not enough time!!
Too many books, too little time.. rightly said!
I am in the middle of 4 books..i understand this so much
I keep my local library very busy!! haha
To read as many books on my Kindle as I can I have too many unread books and keep buying
So do I
Another 365 books this year!
How?! I think you’re my new hero!
To read (and re-read) more of the classics – focusing on Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen – and more books by African authors.
More classics, more Stephen King, and all the long books I couldn’t read this year because of my reading challenge.
75+ ??
To whittle down my TBR list and not buy too many new books, I’m running out of room. We all know that’s not going to happen though.
To read some of the second hand books that I have, then pass them on to someone else so that I have room again for more books.
31 books
Shooting for 75 books, and donating/trading the ones I have read.
Honestly I don’t set goals I just read, it’d stress me out lol
30 books…..i read about 20 this year
100
1 book a week, including an Alphabet reading challenge, and to read 1 non-fiction book each month
What’s the alphabet reading challenge
Reading a book for each letter of the alphabet
Are you making a tbr for it or just looking on your shelf? Also with books that start with the are you counting it as “t”?
I picked books that are already on my tbr list-I mostly get things from the library, though I own a lot too, so the books I’ve picked will be from both. I just requested my A and B books from the library today. I am not counting “The,” that would eliminate too many books
That would take away a lot of books for me too. I am interested in the challenge thou. What are your a & b books
About a Boy by Nick Hornby, Beatrix Potter: A Life in Nature (a biography)
My goal is, for the first time in my adult life, not to set a goal. I want to do an experiment and see how much I read compared to when I’m counting. My hypothesis is I will actually read more. Normally I only read about 12 books between New Years and thanksgiving and another 12 between thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. I will be setting my goal for 2018 at 24, this year I managed to read 24 and the previous year was 12 books.
No library fines…. ::))
To read the court series of sarah maas
One of mine too
75+
My goal for the new year is to read the books I’ve got on my shelves and not to buy anymore. A hard challenge that’s why I’m buying books today! Lol x
One of my goals is to read a book from each of my shelves, to make room for new books I’ll buy
This year it was 50 target, passed it so I’ll go for 60 but look for a reading challenge that has suggestions
50 big, chunky books. I’m really in the mood for those.
Read 25 books. I have 3 kids ages 5, 3 and 8 months so I think that’s ambitious for me!
To read what I have at home, and spend less time on social media.
Spend less time on social media…good one..it will give surely give more time to read. I’m mobile addicted, I too need to focus on it.
To read at least one book that is 1000 pages or more. I habe a couple that I own just haven’t read yet
This year I missed my goal, by 10 books. I set a goal of 25 but only made it to 15 lets see if I manage one more.
I haven’t decided. 2017 started off at 100, had to increase to 120 and finished at 131. Possibly one more before the end.
I’m going to with 120 this my first time setting a reading goal
I want to read 24 books next year, or more. That’s two per month, which is a lot for me with work, studies, writing, hobbies, house and a teenage daughter.
Read 30 this year so hoping for 40 next year
100 books
100 books, also to make sure to read at least one classic book a month.
How do you read 100 books in a year? That’s two books a week! ?
@Jeannette that’s not bad, I can go through three or four books in a month if I want to.
Good for you. I hope you enjoy them ?
Thanks:)
I am trying for 50.
50
Not sure but I plan on getting all the out lander books
At least a book a week including a classic month
25-30 at least
To read regularly.
25
To read lots of books.
I’ve never ever set a reading plan. I love to read, so I feel like that will put some kind of pressure, and I would be dissapointed if dont succeed ??
I dint let it bother me if I dont complete my goal lol I just do it for fun.
150
Read..Read..Read..Read ……….yup!
Good books
100 books
Read at least one book a week.
Probably go to 70
75 books
after I move house in 3 months I will definitely enjoy reading all my latest books I got from thrift shops
To read at least one book by an author I haven’t read before.
100. I couldn’t make it this year(read only 50), so will have to try next year 🙂
25!
52
All the books!
My goal number is 75 and I want to read the books on St. John’s Freshman reading list;
https://www.sjc.edu/application/files/4514/9850/8733/Annapolis_Undergradute_Reading_List_Fall.pdf
25
20-25
50
25 and will see how much I want to increase to ( I read about 2-3 books a week)
My reading goal is to just enjoy any books that I manage to read. I don’t care how many, as I’m studying. Therefore, I am going for quality over quantity. ☺️
Quality over quantity…I agree!! ?
To finish the Wheel of Time series. I’m on book 3.
a book or two a day.
but a more realistic goal – try to read 4 books a month (excluding textbooks – electronic texts, short stories, books)
I’m thinking probably 80
Disk World
You’ll enjoy it…;) 😀
Same as 2017.
I’m leaning towards 75 or more if possible. I was able to complete 72 this year -not sure if I will be able to squeeze in one more! I’d also like to keep trying to read more classics and/or more nonfiction to continue opening up my preferences and knowledge! Books are such a gateway!
I opened up my preferences when o started reading other genres
I just started doing that this past year and have found how much more I enjoy certain genres and subgenres that I never thought I would before!
Just enjoy reading.
300 or 200
Just enjoying it, quality rather than quantity!
This year was 50 so 60 for this year
To not purchase new books or get books from the library til I have read all of the books that I own. Im just going to try to just add to a list. I thought about not even looking into new books that come out so that I can stick with what I have but I’m afraid that I will miss something great and never even know that it is out there.
I am going to try one a week
100 books that I did not meet this year
17 at least
I’m a toddler mum so I don’t have much time these days! As soon as she sees a book in my hand she wants to investigate, so I’m thinking 24 x
At least 75
Since I will be getting into college in June and I think I’d be busier than ever next year, I will be alloting myself 2 books per month (or 24 books for 2018)
Still deciding. This year my goal was 100 but I’m only going to hit MAYBE 93 tops, so I think next year I’ll give myself a smaller goal. Maybe 60?
I would like to swallow at least 10% of books which I have collected like a bee but never tested. Collection of unread books is so huge that sometimes it becomes a subject of anxiety to me. A teac
To read more then this year and read everything that I own. Or most of it anyways.
I don’t know what I’ll set my reading goal to yet because this year I started at 100 and then lowered it to 80 and only read 50 so I really don’t know…..
To read what I enjoy. To read a few books I might not normally choose to read. To read….
You know what? I’m just going to see how many I can read in a year. I’ll just keep tally on goodreads. If I put a numerical goal and don’t reach it, I’ll have a stank attitude. No stank attitudes! So we’ll see.
200 or so
I am aiming for 100 in 2018.
One a week would be good
100 books read in a year is what im shooting for
Going to try to read more, but today even though I’m on break I’m working on my lesson plan for January. Ugh!
30
100
100
410
Its gonna be way down for me. I just started walking again so i really hope i still feel good for 2018.
Since i only read 20 books since my operation in May im thinking between maybe 35-40 and keep on hitting that treadmill and horseback riding. Maybe get a new job and learn new things.
But i have to admit, i do feel guilty. Books are the best companions.
Audible!
@Jennifer lol good idea
Excellent even. The only thing is my imagination doesn’t go wild as much with audible
I’m thinking 35 for 2018!!!
To read what I already own and to ONLY buy books that I need to complete any series I own.
To just carry on loving to read.
Hmmmm probably about 500
About 24
As many books as I can read all in fun
Publish my own book.
Wow ! Great!!
I wish for 20. If I’ll do more, than it’s awesome.
To read as much I can…
I’ve challenged myself to read one classic and one nonfiction book per month. The rest of the time, at random from my tbr shelf, hopefully.
50
As many as I can !! ??
At least 52. A book a week
read 53 book, that’s mean a book each week
Once we move (hopefully by spring) and I get all my books unpacked, to try to really get back into reading from my huge amount of TBRs!
About 90,000 pages… ?
Josie~My goal may be slightly different…but I’m aiming to read only nonfiction in 2018. I’ve got a list together so that’s a start.
