@Amanda thanks! I’ve read AG and Hobbit, but I have yet to try Sanderson. Elantris looks very tempting.

@Dmitry I’ve seen you post this link in a thread where the question was about favorite series… is it a series or a standalone? Or are you just randomly promoting your book in every thread?

Dmitry

@Nazli hello. This is only the first of a future trilogy.

So it’s not a standalone which is what I asked for.

@Nazli This is only the first part. When you read it, it will look forward to continuing

The hundred thousand kingdoms by NK Jemisin. Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Uprooted by Naomi Novik

@Kerlys thank you! Sanderson and Jemisin are two writers I’ve heared alot about but never tried out. I should do that now! About Uprooted… my spontanious thoughts on that title is that it’s a YA romance fantasy. Am I being prejudice or is that what it is? I could just look it up but I’ve been tricked by goodreads before..

Kerlys

@Nazli you never fail with Sanderson or Jemisin. Uprooted is closer to YA, but not the kind of YA that about the “not typical girl” in the middle of a disgusting love triangle with two abusive guys. There is a little bit of a love story, but it’s not the center of the book. Uprooted is a fairy tale well done, enjoyable at any age.

@Kerlys thank you! I have it in my audio book library so I will probably give it a go soon.

Oooo Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It’s twice as nice because there are other books coming out in the world but the story is a one off. If you get hooked there’s more to enjoy, but it’s completely satisfying on it’s own too!

Reading Uprooted now. Really enjoyed Spinning Silver so had to check this one out. So far my impressions are: easier to understand than Spinning Silver due to single POV but not as haunting in atmosphere yet.

I’m waiting for Spinning Silver to come up at the library, so I can’t speak to how it measures up.

Uprooted does have some spook-factor later on though. ??

Havenstar by Glenda Larke (originally published under the name Glenda Noramly)

Glenda is one of my favorite authors and always an “Instant Buy.”
