@Graham Im doing all Jack Ryan serie, so those 3 will come with time!!!

1
Lorrea

I had the opportunity to meet Tom Clancy about 25 years ago. He’s lived in the area I grew up in.

2
Tram-anh

@Lorrea wouah, lucky you!!!

0
Letina

Do you have to start with a particular book to get into his characters?

1
Tram-anh

I did a research on Google to follow the order of Jack Ryan series. So I began with Without remorse. I think it started in the 70s with the Vietnam War and it goes with time for each book, as we can see the character get older

I had a college professor who had defected from Russia during the Cold War. Clancy had once visited him at a “defectors club” to do research. He asked the professor for a list of Russian curse words. He was disappointed when the professor only gave him ten. “Are you a KGB plant, sent to sabotage my novels?” Clancy joked.

Ok, this is getting WAY away from Stephen King. Go WAY back to the late 19th century to 1869 when it was published. I’ve had this book on my shelf for 20 something years and am finally reading it today. Mark Twain is well known, but how many people have read “The Innocents Abroad”? It takes you on a ship, across the Atlantic to Europe, the Mediterranean, and on to the Middle East to tour the Holy Land stopping and exploring numerous ports along the way. This is the BEST travel book you will EVER read, and it’s NOT your modern day travel blog. It is FUNNY as heck. The passengers who signed on to this trip and thought it would be a picnic………well just read the book. 🙂
