Wheel of Time
@Jared I have the first ten of these looking to get the rest before starting them
I’m on my second read through of the series. Hope you enjoy it!
@Jared I have read the first 4 maybe 3 times. I can never get through them!! That is my 2019 goal
@Josh I also reccomend the Mistborn series. Both trilogies are really good
@Jared I have most of the mistborn I think. All of sandersons books are high on my tbr lol
@Josh thanks for asking this question. Lots of recommendations I’m gonna put on my TBR List!
Oh and I loved the Wheel of Time series
Brandon Sanderson books – Stormlight Archives
@Kris I loved warbreaker
Same, to both. Love Sanderson’s books.
Circe, Game of Thrones
Mercy Thompson. Urban fantasy I think.
Oh and Raymond Feist, King of Ashes
Green Rider Series by Kristen Britain
Witches of Eileanan series by Kate Forsyth
The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb
I don’t know how I missed the Green Rider series for so long. I read up to the third or fourth book, and my library didn’t have it so I stopped. I’ll have to check out the Witches of Eileanan, since I like your other favorites.
I still need to read Mirror Sight and Firebrand still. But I feel lucky to have found the Green Rider series early on.
The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. Don’t you dare watch the stupid animated movie…don’t.
@Ellen I saw that cartoon as a child and tbh I loved it. I still haven’t read the book, though it’s on my tbr.
The movie is barely like the book. Sorry for my visceral words. It is such a wonderful book I felt insulted by the movie. It’s been so long that I don’t remember all the specific
Objections. Read it and others by him.
The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare, and the Shades of Magic trilogy by V. E. Schwab
@Anna I want to read all these apart from Cassandra Clare she’s more my girlfriend’s sort of author.
@Josh Cassandra Clare is kind of a comfort read author for me when I’m feeling like cheesy over the top drama and romance. She’s definitely not for everyone. But for fans of high quality adult fantasy the Kingkiller Chronicles are my number one recommendation. Those books are total perfection.
Lord of the Rings
Dark Elf series by RA Salvatore
@Helga I’m selling all my R A SALVATORE books not a fan lol
My hubby got me a signed copy of the The Dark Elf Trilogy for Christmas last year. I’m still figuring out the perfect display for it in our reading room
@Jess he’s definitely a keeper ??
Demon Cycle was great until the last book
@Troy I loved them it’s just the last quarter of the core seemed rushed, I will still get the new demon cycle books that start to come out next year
I agree the last quarter of The Core felt rushed, but it was a fitting ending.
Lord Of The Rings and Stephen Donaldson’s Thomas Covenant series.
@Adam my dad has told me to read Thomas covenant
@Josh Wise dad of yours ?
@Adam I will get round to them eventually lol
Game of Thrones, His Dark Materials
@Sam my favs too
Anything and everything by Brandon Sanderson.
@Christian loved warbreaker
Loved the magic system in it. I’m an artist and just the thought of doing magic with color seemed brilliant ?
@Christian I am too. it was great I’ve heard the lightbringer series by Brent weeks has a magic system based on colours
Yes it does. It’s different though. I tried reading the first book in the series a few times but I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe the writing style. I didn’t relate to any character. The magic system was difficult to understand. I don’t know. Maybe I didn’t give it enough of a chance.
Dragonlance Chronicles, Magician – Feist, and Wheel of Time.
Garth nix is amazing.. Abhorsen series
Fantasy is not normally what I gravitate to, but my husband dearly loves Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth novels, so I’m currently reading Wizard’s First Rule for him. Anyone else read and enjoy them?
I liked Wizard’s First Rule, but really anything past the third book was more disappointing than anything. A good 20% or more of the books can literally be skipped, since it’s repeatedly describing the same action practically verbatim every time. He’s written a lot of books in that world, though, so there’s a lot to read if you like him. I recently picked up his latest release, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you like any kind of depth to your story.
Harry Potter. Life got in the way and I’m just now getting to enjoy them!
The Wheel of Time series. Redwall series. Fire Bringer.
Robin Hobb and the Liveship Trader and Golden Man series, and anything from Ann McCaffrey and Jim Butcher.
The Dragons of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey . 25 books I think. Also The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. There are more , but I won’t write a book!
Lisa Mantchev’s Eyes Like Stars, Perchance to Dream and So Silver Bright.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin is my all time favorite. I love almost everything he’s written, and most of his anthologies he’s edited are high quality.
I recently really enjoyed The Thorn Prince by Mark Lawrence.
Malazan Book of the Fallen by Stephen Erikson
Wheel of Time
Howl’s Moving Castle trilogy by Diana Wynne Jones, Harry Potter series, Chronicles of Narnia, Chronicles of Prydain, His Dark Materials, The Riyria Revelations by Michael J Sullivan, The Lord of the Rings.

HP and LOTR always. I just read the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson and they’re not as good but they’re pretty great!
LOTR Dragonlance Chronicles and of course for children the Chronicles of Prudence
@Kim I am currently reading dragon Lance slowly though but I am enjoying it
@Donna I loved the first three books, Tanis Half Elf is one of my favourite book characters
@Kim My fiance is a Dragonlance fan since back in probably middle school.
@Kirby yes it must be about thirty years ago that I first read them!
The Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon, LOTRs, Malazan by Erikson
Lotr, Trudi Canavan And Terry Goodkind, I’ve re-read these so many times and still really enjoy them every time ?
Mistborn series, LOTR, Kingkiller Chronicles
Oh, and I forgot to mention Marion Zimmer Bradley’s The Mists of Avalon and some of her Darkover series.
Sword of truth series by Terry Goodkind. I keep re-reading them, I’m at six times for the series.
@Matt I fell in love with his way of character development and the subtle undertones that reflect actuality of life and social interactions.
@Mitchell that’s fair.
I think it’s mostly a pile of garbage lol.
I do like how as a war wizard richard couldn’t eat meat.
The ending was a huge disappointment to me.
Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever series.
Lord of the rings and hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy
Just finished the Demon Cycle last month. I’d pre-ordere the Core, but waited to read it. What a fitting ending
@Jess there going to be new ones sometime next year.
@Josh Are they going to be direct sequels? Brett had said at one point The Core would end that storyline
Olive and Arlens kid are going to be in it Rogers too I think it’s set 15 years after the core
Wizards first rule by Terry goodkind
Lord of the Rings. I don’t really have another series that I like as much lol
I am enjoying the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa though
Mistborn is a good series by Brandon Sanderson, Ryria Revelations by Michael Sullivan, First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie
Demon cycle and wheel of Time and Outlander.
The Belgariad Trilogy, The Mallorean Trilogy, and The Elenium Trilogy, – actually, ANYTHING by David Eddings, including also, The Redemption of Althalus
I enjoyed Eddings and Donaldson but the best one by far was ‘Something Red’ by Douglas Nicholas
Would Hyperion count as fantasy?
Is that Dan Simmons @Tara? That’s sci-fi isn’t it?
@Tara I’d categorize it as sci-fi, though an amazing series in its own right
Discworld, the Taltos books also.
LOTR
Book of the Ancestor and Broken empire trilogies are pretty good too
I’ve heard the Tad Williams ones are really good, apparently inspired George Martin. Anyone read those?
I’ve read some , a few years back , and really enjoyed them. I think I should re-read.
Lord of the Rings
Wheel of time, lord of the rings and anything by Anne @Fawn
