Did not start reading for enjoyment until my mid 20s. Started with nonfiction then moved to fantasy, action and romance. Now I read all the time best escape from the real world.
Always. My mother says I used to force her to read me book after book after book as a small child. She was so happy when I started reading on my own. I will read any genre. A good story is a good story.
Always a reader. Started with classics and stayed with classics for years (even a BA in English with emphasis on 19th century). Then expanded to modern literature, plus sci fi and fantasy (strangely enough).
I was grounded so much as a kid.. from the age of 8. No internet, tv, phone or friends. I was only allowed books.. too bad for my parents that I relished the punishment ? they ended up finding alternative punishments haha
I’ve always been a reader (most of my family read a lot) I will read any genre except steamy romance novels. I will tolerate other romance books though from time to time.
Yes. I started with Dorrie the little witch (Patricia Coombs) as a little kid, moved on to the Enchanted Forest Chronicels (Patricia C. Wrede) as a tween, Xanth books (Piers Anthony) as a teen, and George R. R. Martin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Gail Carriger currently.
I was almost held back in 4th and 5th grade because my reading was below grade level. As an adult i read 3 to 4 books a month. I am happy my mom kept fighting for me. Sometimes it takes kids a little extra time to get there… be eventually they will #iamproudofme ?
Always a reader, since my dad taught me when I was 4. The only time I stopped was when I was pregnant. I had that pregnancy brain…mush, couldn’t retain anything!
my mom raised me as a reader, so yes, I’ve always been a reader. she’s a reader herself, and I think that fact helps contribute to my literary interests.
as for genre, I avoid romance and ya and horror, mostly. but overall my genres vary greatly.
I do remember loving books as a child…my mom would get me the read a long tapes with the books…that helped a lot. I vary genres because I love to read for fun but also for knowledge…so I am big in reading art history books as well as ancient civilizations and religions. I read poetry…classics, YA and contemporary. I cannot limit myself to a specific genre because I can’t help my thirst for knowledge. My eldest loves reading history as well so I’m quite proud of that.
I read when I was a child but I didn’t really start until my parents found a group notebook in middle school. ?? Grounding for a year really does the trick. ?
I would skip school…? never to do anything outrageous…I would hang out with my friends or…go home. I was in an all girl class and none of the girls liked me so they made my life impossible…so I skipped.
@Jessie we got our notebook taken by a teacher for not paying attention and then she read it at her desk. We all got suspended and moved to different classroom. We had been talking about EVERYTHING we did, the 4 of us, that we would never tell our parents. We were 13/14 sooooo it was pretty bad. ??
Always been a reader…was put in an advanced reading group through elementary school. I used to only read fiction then moved onto fantasy and ya and I absolutely love true crime ? I am open to explore all genres now.
Actually I didn’t properly learn to read until the 3rd grade when I started ADD medication, then i suddenly “got it” and shot to the top of my class. I was a big reader from then on out. My tastes have totally changed though. I used to read a lot of fantasy and I pretty much won’t touch fantasy now. I also used to read a lot more classics than I do now. I read mostly women’s fiction and thriller now, neither of which was I interested in as a youngin’.
Always a voracious reader. My love affair with the written word instilled in me by my mother. As a teen, the public library had awarded her for reading the most books. She taught me to read by the time I was four and this lifelong adventure began. Every genre but primarily I devour the classics.
I have been an avid reader ever since I learned to read. I hate the “self-help” genre though. Pretty much everything else I read. Romance this week, horror the next. Follow that up with a good autobiography or mystery. Just please no “think positive thoughts and be the best you” stuff.
Always for as long as I can remember. I read almost everything except erotica and mills and boones, I rarely read horrors now a days but will read occasionally
I have always loved books. I read mainly horror throughout my teenage years. As an adult, I have always loved autobiographies/memoirs and literary fiction. My most recent genre is historical fiction, I think I have always loved that genre but never really knew of it, always thought they were under literary fiction. I will pretty much read anything except trashy romance.
I remember always wanting to re-read this picture book about a little kitten who road the bus with her mom to the toy store to buy a doll. I must have been around 5. So I’ve loved books as long as I can remember. My taste has changed quite a bit, it’s become more varied. I used to love the Nancy Drew series and now I hardly ever read mysteries or thrillers. Fantasy, classics, some scifi, “literature”, nonfiction, and romance are my favs.
Been a reader since I was seven. I started with Ramona Quimby, then, beginning of second grade, we’re nearing Halloween, right? I read my first piece of horror. I read the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I started looking for scary stuff after that. I got into sci fi a few years later. I still love sci fi, fantasy, mysteries and horror.
Always a reader..well as long as I can remember and been told by mum I’ve always had a book in my hands. I’ve gone through different genres over the years.
I’ve been reading nonstop since the age of four. I am usually reading 2-3 books at a time, probably 5-10 per week. I wear out the magnetic strip on my library card long before it ever expires, and the library drop box is a regular stop on my way to work. I also buy used books by the box at Goodwill and then donate them back when I’m done. I mostly read action and spy thrillers and geopolitical nonfic, but I write fantasy. OTOH, I write fantasy spy thrillers, so there is that.
I became a reader when I was little because my mom always made it a priority to read to me everyday. I feel if you are a parent its so so so important to read daily to your kids, and encourage reading. I say this because if my mom didn’t encourage me to read, and read to me when I was young I wouldn’t be a reader now.
Parents are so important my mother was never without a book in her hand (same with all my aunties and grandparents) however my sister lost interest as a reader when peer pressure kicked in. Luckily I have never cared to much about others opinons and read enough for the both of us).
You want to know how or why I got into reading? Because I thought I would have telekinetic powers. Blame the movie Matilda. Unfortunately, no telekinetic powers, but I did gain the love for reading.
I started reading at 4 but stopped around the time i went to high school (except for books i had to read for class). Too much stuff going on. College had me reading books I didnt want to read but I got back into reading pretty much right after I graduated college while recovering from surgery after being burned in a house fire. But, I truly didn’t get obsessed with books again until about 2 years after that when I started working in a university library and had a plethora of books at my disposal. I’ve always preferred fantasy to anything else.
I began reading seriously in 1977 when I met my wife, we were both in the Army in Germany. She began tearing her romance paperbacks in half about half way thru reading for me to pick up. I did. Then, I’d catch up and she’d give me the second half. I read about a dozen . . . One time she tore #13 or so in half . .. and I just shook me head no . . . Went out and bought an adventure mystery type book (can’t even remember what it was in ’78) and I was off. What was the question again? 😉
It feels like I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I didn’t have a genre. I did the browsing a lot and such. I think gravitating to just one specific genre wasn’t until middle school.
Romance. Books like Jade Green and Firegold and even the Alice series.
Started reading entire books when I was five. Never stopped since. I loved the fantasy and adventure genre. I remember the first book I read was about a bird who lived in the forest with other birds. One day, the eagles and owls wanted to have a war, so the tiny little wren bird stopped them with all the other tiny birds such as crows, robins, bluebirds, jays, sparrows, pigeons, cardinals and others. Since then, I have been devouring over whatever my hands could get, until I got to college where I stopped reading fantasy for a while. Now I’m reading fantasy, science fiction, biographies, books about business, psychology, history and personal development.
No, I kind of added it but never gave up any of the genres I liked. I didn’t learn to read until I was in the 4th grade. My first books were Nancy Drew, Little Women etc. I went on to read autobiographies, biographies, history etc. My husband introduced me to J R R Tolkien and a friend introduced me to historical fiction. I love it all!!
been reading All the Things since I was five or six. fell in love with fantasy at age 13, and ours still my favorite, though I also read classic and contemporary fiction, some mystery/thriller/historical fiction.
No, as a ch8ld I hated reading, being dyslexic I hated reading. I got 8nto reading when I began travelling, trashy stuff lik3 Jeffrey Archer, Cadfael etc. I then picked up War and Peace and my life changed forever
If you’re curious or just confused then let me tell you the story.
When I was younger I used to read any books I could. From lame romance with cliché plots, fanfictions with horrible grammar to New York Bestsellers… But now I get easily swayed by people’s opinion, if you simply say that a book is horrible, I will listen, put out your opinions and as long as I think that they’re kinda honest and rational I will believe you.
Yes . Always a reader . I like crime thrillers and mysteries though I now read more classics , historical fiction & non fiction, contemporary fiction ,psychological thrillers ,romance ….
I jump from one genre to another. Couldnt stay with just one only. 🙂 Like, if after reading a devastating drama fiction, i want to have some light read or maybe a teen fantasy read
I love science books, especially relating to astrophysics. I remember reading books about black holes and planets as a small child. This genre is still fascinating to me. As an adult, I started reading books about technology and artificial intelligencewhich I seem to take more seriously. I am a doctoral student concentrating in Technology Management and my career is in this field as well, but I always tell myself that if I won the lottery or decided to quit my career I would also formally study physics just for fun.
I have always been a reader, yes, but genres change over the years. I used to love romance, for instance, now I can’t stand the stuff. Guess life has made me a cynical b*tch ???
I started reading when I was 4 (now 61). My family joked that I read the cereal boxes at breakfast! I go in spurts, jumping from one genre to another. Currently, I am into historical fiction, Christian fiction, non fiction. But, I do have a couple of King books that have been eyeballing me!??
Loved reading as a kid. Everywhere I went I took my goosebumps and Gameboy lol Stopped reading in highschool. Believe it or not, the Da Vinci code is what resparked my love for reading in my my early twenties. It was the first book I read in years and I couldn’t put it down. Now I read every day. I went from strictly non fiction to solely sci fi. Now I love urban fantasy, dystopian/post apocalyptic, sci fi, supernatural horror and thrillers.
I’ve always been a reader. Have always been author loyal, too. Have loved mysteries and suspense since I was a kid, but went from Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew to Victoria Holt. Had to push my books aside for 30 years to raise kids (ages 11-36). Decided to make reading a top priority a few years ago and have been focused on foster child memoirs, WWII/Holocaust memoirs, and UK historical fiction 1000 – 1948. A few psychological thrillers in between series.
Always….I have read a variety of genres…..the only one I will not read is horror….I just discovered the cozy mysteries….light mysteries where the focus on the character and their “investigation” if the crime…instead of the focus on the crime itself.
I don’t remember ever NOT reading. In Brooklyn as a kid in the summer I would be at the library twice a week (could only take out four books at a time) and the daylight hours would find me sitting, reading, at the open window in the front room of our fourth floor apartment…. historical biographies, and novels, all sorts of books have made their way to my hands.
I have been a reader, . . . off and on since I was about 11. I began with operas, . . . which are like Fairy Tales, . . . with a body count.
Then it was Fantasy, . . . then Sci Fi, . . . then back to Fantasy, . . . then it was Romance, . . . then it was nothing. I got back into reading with Agatha Christie and the Classics. ?
I started out with the usual kid stuff, loved mysteries as a kid (Nancy Drew and the like) graduated to Romance and Mysteries as a teen, then literary fiction, fantasy and Sci-fi. I still like an element of romance in what I read, and i still love a good mystery. And Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors.
I am 52 and have ALWAYS read. I still have my original pop-up books from when I was 5. I read Watership Down 3 times in 6th grade and recently bought a first edition that I plan to someday read again….I have been type 1 for over 25 years and my biggest fear is my eyesight!!!! I cannot imagine a life without books ?
lol it ok… we all have something. It hasn’t stopped me from traveling or doing most of the things that I want to do. I just knew early in life that my time with sight and how much was limited.
I can remember walking with my cousin to the library. I was 4-5? She would sit me at the table in the children’s room, little chairs and little tables, give me 3-4 books and go into the ‘big girls area’ to find her books. That was the start for me. As I got older I could make the long walk there by myself.
Started reading at age 2 and haven’t stopped (although there were some years in which I read far more than others), I don’t believe in limiting myself to certain genres—give me all the books!—so I read pretty much anything except erotica, and religious texts or fiction.
Since before I can remember I’ve been an avid reader like my mom. I grew up reading horror (R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series during my young teen years and then Koontz and King as I got older). I still prefer horror but i also love historical fiction and psychological thrillers.
Read my first book at 5 and here I am 51 years later still loving books. I’ve always read mystery (as a child) Nancy Drew mostly. Then as an adult I read mostly psychological thriller/crime but do read other genres from time to time just for a break.
Yes since I was 8 years old and no I read romance novels until I met my husband and he opened new reading genres to me and i pretty much read everything!
Was a big reader as a kid, then just got back into it a couple years ago as a way to connect with my daughter who’s a big reader, and was reminded how much I love it. I’ve always seemed to enjoy fiction but my taste has really grown/expanded since I was a kid.
I didn’t get into fiction books (except Dr. Suess) until 5th grade because all the books I’d been exposed to up until then were classics I found boring. Then I found Stephen King and I was hooked for life. My genre has multiplied over the years to include fantasy and mystery. And, yes, I still loathe the classics.
No I was a junior in high school when I learned to enjoy reading. When I got done with college I started reading a lot more. I like a bunch of different genres.
I started reading a lot in elementary school. I was obsessed with Walter Farley’s The Black Stallion books! As I grew older I read in different genres. I loved ordering books from the Scholastic order forms we would get in school!
I started reading seriously in college when I decided to major in English, and really ramped up my reading once I graduated and had more time widen my scope. I’ve been a pretty steady reader ever since.
Reading and I have had a very rocky relationship. I read a lot as a kid but it just wasn’t fun for me as an adult. I made an effort to start reading again a few years ago. Read 3 books the first year and every year tried to read more than the last. Last year I read over 50 books.
Yes, I love what I love, and the writers I love have kindly obliged me by either inspiring others to write in my favored genre, or by contributing to the collection with new novels.
Always a reader. Read around.
Yep. Me too.
I e been a reader for as long as I can remember. I love to venture out into new genres.
Did not start reading for enjoyment until my mid 20s. Started with nonfiction then moved to fantasy, action and romance. Now I read all the time best escape from the real world.
Yes it is.
Always.
Always. My mother says I used to force her to read me book after book after book as a small child. She was so happy when I started reading on my own. I will read any genre. A good story is a good story.
Started reading when I was four (thanks Mom!!) I’ve always been a suspense and horror fan. The three billy goats gruff were my boys!
Love the shout out. Hi mom.
Always a reader. I usually ask friends for suggestions so I read outside my preferred genre.
Yes. No.
Always and with several genres
Always a reader. I switch genres often but there are some genres I wont ever read no matter how good a recommendation is.
Always a reader!! Read anything and everything
Been a reader all my life. Book clubs started me reading all genres.
Always a reader
Always a reader, lucky to have a reading, library-loving Mom! Read all genres, different fave genres at various life stages
Been a reader all my life.. but sometimes life gets in the way. I have always loved classics.. Old lit is the… best!
No, I wasn’t a reader until after highs school. I used to read romance novels, now I am reading more historical fiction and best sellers.
Since I was old enough to read, about 4
Yes. I started with Dorrie the little witch (Patricia Coombs) as a little kid, moved on to the Enchanted Forest Chronicels (Patricia C. Wrede) as a tween, Xanth books (Piers Anthony) as a teen, and George R. R. Martin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Gail Carriger currently.
always..
yes.. I’m into almost every genre
Started to love reading once I was in the 6th grade and introduced to R.L. Stines Fear Street series
I was almost held back in 4th and 5th grade because my reading was below grade level. As an adult i read 3 to 4 books a month. I am happy my mom kept fighting for me. Sometimes it takes kids a little extra time to get there… be eventually they will #iamproudofme ?
Always a reader but, took a break until the kids were older,I read to them then got back into reading with YA. I read whatever appeals to me.
Always a reader, since my dad taught me when I was 4. The only time I stopped was when I was pregnant. I had that pregnancy brain…mush, couldn’t retain anything!
Ever since I learned how.
my mom raised me as a reader, so yes, I’ve always been a reader. she’s a reader herself, and I think that fact helps contribute to my literary interests.
as for genre, I avoid romance and ya and horror, mostly. but overall my genres vary greatly.
I used to read when I was young and then stopped for a while. Then I started reading again last month!
I’ve been especially busy with my college classes….
I graduate in May with my bachelors!
@Victoria congratulations. Big accomplishment
Thank you!!! It’ll be in animal science! I did a quality assurance internship this summer and I definitely want to pursue that!
That’s what my degree is in, from the school of Purdue University.
That’s amazing!!!! It’s a great field of work to be in!
Not until I read Fun with Dick and Jane. I remember page four thinking, “here we go, I’ve got this.”
Yeah, I’ve always been a reader. I like almost all genres. But only read the ones I like.
I’ve always read tons. My tastes in books have certainly changed though. I used to hate fantasy and now, while I’m picky about it, I love it.
Yes I have. Mystery has always been my favorite.
Always, and I read just about anything that sounds interesting
I do remember loving books as a child…my mom would get me the read a long tapes with the books…that helped a lot. I read when I was a child but I didn’t really start until my parents found a group notebook in middle school. ?? Grounding for a year really does the trick. ?
@Michelle. Do I ever understand…I was grounded from 7th grade through high school…so yes reading and music were my escape.
@Jessie I didn’t get music unless I was in the car.
@Jessie what did you do?? ?
Technically I would get my music system taken away…it would last for a month or so before I’d sneak it back to my room
@Jessie you’re brave!
Omg…some teachers tho?. That’s just mean. Thank goodness we got through those times.
@Jessie YES GIRL! ??
Always been a reader. Mostly historical fiction or crime thrillers
Yes. And no. I read and enjoy anything from fantasy to biographies to philosophy to oceanography. I’m not picky.
Always been a reader…was put in an advanced reading group through elementary school. I used to only read fiction then moved onto fantasy and ya and I absolutely love true crime ? I am open to explore all genres now.

Always, I read many genre but historical fiction is my favorite
Yes… learned at 4 have been reader ever since. I read pretty everything except horror. But i like mystery best
Always for as long as I can remember. I read almost everything except erotica and mills and boones, I rarely read horrors now a days but will read occasionally

Been a reader my entire life, but my favorite genres are horror. I write Romance.
I started at age 4, by the time I was 10 I was reading Dean Koontz lol! My genre changes every year just about. I go through stages.
Always a reader but genre has evolved. Reading a larger variety nowadays.
I remember always wanting to re-read this picture book about a little kitten who road the bus with her mom to the toy store to buy a doll. I must have been around 5. Love Romana
Always a reader..well as long as I can remember and been told by mum I’ve always had a book in my hands. I’ve gone through different genres over the years.
Yes have been reading almost everything that comes my way
I’ve always been a reader. I’m still a mystery addict. Lol.
I’ve been reading nonstop since the age of four. I am usually reading 2-3 books at a time, probably 5-10 per week. I wear out the magnetic strip on my library card long before it ever expires, and the library drop box is a regular stop on my way to work. @Ruth I do believe peer pressure can cause someone to stop reading. I feel I read more now then I did in highschool due to peer pressure.
Always been a voracious reader and read all kinds of books.
You want to know how or why I got into reading? Because I thought I would have telekinetic powers. Blame the movie Matilda. Unfortunately, no telekinetic powers, but I did gain the love for reading.
Always a reader but never a single genre.
I started reading at 4 but stopped around the time i went to high school (except for books i had to read for class). Too much stuff going on. College had me reading books I didnt want to read but I got back into reading pretty much right after I graduated college while recovering from surgery after being burned in a house fire. Always a reader but I read a bit of everything. Do prefer contemporary literature.
I began reading seriously in 1977 when I met my wife, we were both in the Army in Germany. She began tearing her romance paperbacks in half about half way thru reading for me to pick up. I did. Then, I’d catch up and she’d give me the second half. I read about a dozen . . . One time she tore #13 or so in half . .. and I just shook me head no . . . I have been a reader since I was little. My genre has changed over the years.
Yes to first.
Kinda to the 2nd.
It feels like I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I didn’t have a genre. I did the browsing a lot and such. I think gravitating to just one specific genre wasn’t until middle school.

Sounds like a wonderful book, I am a bird watcher and collect books about Birding.
Always a reader but mostly fiction. When I don’t have anymore books to read, that’s the time I read anything.
Always a reader but not the same genre. I choose books on how I feel and what interests me at that time so always changing
Nope, I refuse to curve my interest which is varied and extensive.
Always a non-stop reader. Although I prefer historical fiction, I will dabble in other genres from time to time.
I am reading for past 55 years. I do not limit my reading to any particular genre.
No, but usually my books are fiction. Depends on my mood.
Always a reader all genres except horror and mystery
I started reading when I was 12 and I read all kinds of genres but nou I mostly read psycologicak thrillers and christian fiction
been reading All the Things since I was five or six. fell in love with fantasy at age 13, and ours still my favorite, though I also read classic and contemporary fiction, some mystery/thriller/historical fiction.
Been a reader since start, but mostly stuck to my Genre (Fantasy), but i do mix up a bit sometimes
I’ve always been a reader. But I never have chosen a simple genre. I just love a really good.
No, as a ch8ld I hated reading, being dyslexic I hated reading. I got 8nto reading when I began travelling, trashy stuff lik3 Jeffrey Archer, Cadfael etc. I then picked up War and Peace and my life changed forever
All genres but romance and crime fiction since age 4 or 5.
Read all except romance, since age 5.
Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Auto/ Biographies, have always been the staples of my reading since 5-6.
Used to read anything. USED TO.
?
?
If you’re curious or just confused then let me tell you the story.
When I was younger I used to read any books I could. From lame romance with cliché plots, fanfictions with horrible grammar to New York Bestsellers… But now I get easily swayed by people’s opinion, if you simply say that a book is horrible, I will listen, put out your opinions and as long as I think that they’re kinda honest and rational I will believe you.
So now I’m kinda ruined…
I’ve been a reader since I was 17. It all started with Twilight, so romance is my preferred genre.
Always. As a kid I remember begging my mum to let me just finish the chapter or the section of the page before having to go to bed.
Yes . Always a reader . I like crime thrillers and mysteries though I now read more classics , historical fiction & non fiction, contemporary fiction ,psychological thrillers ,romance ….
Yes and I’ve discovered new genres I love like sci-fi but yeah, fantasy, dystopian, and horror will probably always be my favorites
I jump from one genre to another. Couldnt stay with just one only. 🙂 Like, if after reading a devastating drama fiction, i want to have some light read or maybe a teen fantasy read
I’ve always been a reader and I have always genre hopped since I can remember.
I’ve always read, and I’ve always read anything I could get my hands on.
I have always been a reader, yes, but genres change over the years. I used to love romance, for instance, now I can’t stand the stuff. Guess life has made me a cynical b*tch ???
I started with childer books went to horror and thriller now i am in love with romance novels hehe
Been reading since I taught how to. I read pretty much anything. Just not overly gross stuff
Always a reader but switched genres. Used to do the classics now you couldn’t pay me to read one. Into crime fiction and psychological thrillers now
Since i learned how to read☺ and i read anything ? My Mom is the one who introduced me to world of books ?
Always a reader? Yes.
Stay in same genre(s)? No. I’ve expanded, greatly.
Yes I started when I was 14
I’ve always been a reader and I like romance and fantasy fiction❤
I started reading when I was 4 (now 61). My family joked that I read the cereal boxes at breakfast! I go in spurts, jumping from one genre to another. Currently, I am into historical fiction, Christian fiction, non fiction. But, I do have a couple of King books that have been eyeballing me!??
@Darla you sound like me…lol!
Ever read Karen Kingsbury? She’s a Christian fiction gem.
@Shannon not yet
@Judith try her. You’ll love it.
@Shannon Will try! Thanks!
Loved reading as a kid. Everywhere I went I took my goosebumps and Gameboy lol
Stopped reading in highschool.
Started loving reading in 1st grade with the scholastic order forms to buy books. I read all over the place except romance
Yes! I started in kindergarten with The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss! I’d like to think I’ve matured in terms of genres lol
Anyrhing i can get my mits on starting with my mums magz wjen ibwas four if its a book ill guve it a go
I’ve always been a reader.
Always a reader. I like exploring across generes. Anything that catches my interest
My family would joke that a book was an extension of my arm, carried one everywhere I went, even to bed!
Yes always been a nose stuck in a book kind of girl. No I enjoy different genres
Yes, I have always loved fantasy and I always will!
Yes since I learned to read. I read all genres. I like variety
When I was a younger I loved romance and YA. Now I’m into mystery and thrillers the most
I have been a reader, . . . off and on since I was about 11.
Love Jodi
Yes I have always been a reader, no I have never stayed with any particular genre ( exception I don’t like Erotica & Fantasy).
Audio books … I have issues with my eyes and I have already started using audio books…just encase.
@Randy so far I have no complications but doesn’t mean I’m not always thinking about it!!!!
@Jill I understand I have a genetic condition that major nerve in my eyes is shutting down… well part of it.
@Randy just gives me more reasons to keep my blood sugar in check!!!
lol it ok… we all have something. It hasn’t stopped me from traveling or doing most of the things that I want to do. I just knew early in life that my time with sight and how much was limited.
Ditto for me, Jill. I can’t remember ever not knowing how to read.
Nope, I only started reading regularly 2/3 years ago. I will try any genre to be honest, I do enjoy classic lit the most though.
No, I have read when i was 12-18 and now since I have my daughter in 2012 I read between 3-10 books/short stories/week
I can remember walking with my cousin to the library. I was 4-5? She would sit me at the table in the children’s room, little chairs and little tables, give me 3-4 books and go into the ‘big girls area’ to find her books. That was the start for me. As I got older I could make the long walk there by myself.
I started to read in the 4th grade. the only thing that has changed is I read lots of different kinds of books especially mystery stories.
Started reading at age 2 and haven’t stopped (although there were some years in which I read far more than others), I don’t believe in limiting myself to certain genres—give me all the books!—so I read pretty much anything except erotica, and religious texts or fiction.
No fiction? Wow! Don’t hear that often.
@Shannon Religious fiction. No Oxford comma. 😉
@Joel got me there. Lol
Since before I can remember I’ve been an avid reader like my mom. I grew up reading horror (R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series during my young teen years and then Koontz and King as I got older). I still prefer horror but i also love historical fiction and psychological thrillers.
The only genre I stick to is BOOKS.
Read my first book at 5 and here I am 51 years later still loving books. I’ve always read mystery (as a child) Nancy Drew mostly. Then as an adult I read mostly psychological thriller/crime but do read other genres from time to time just for a break.
I’ve always been a reader & fantasy has always been my favorite genre ☺️ I read a lot of other genres too, but fantasy feels like coming home.
Yes since I was 8 years old and no I read romance novels until I met my husband and he opened new reading genres to me and i pretty much read everything!
Started reading before kindergarten and haven’t stopped since.
Was a big reader as a kid, then just got back into it a couple years ago as a way to connect with my daughter who’s a big reader, and was reminded how much I love it. I’ve always seemed to enjoy fiction but my taste has really grown/expanded since I was a kid.
I always read. It was the perfect escape for me. I’ve always wanted to be a writer so reading was always something I’ve loved to do
Yes & yes
Yes! Book it got me tons of pizzas as a kid lol.
I’ll read anything once, twice if I survive the first time. I enjoy multiple genres.
Yes and No
No I was a junior in high school when I learned to enjoy reading. When I got done with college I started reading a lot more. I like a bunch of different genres.
No only started reading more in the last 5 years, I read Romance,
I started reading a lot in elementary school. I was obsessed with Walter Farley’s The Black Stallion books! As I grew older I read in different genres. I loved ordering books from the Scholastic order forms we would get in school!
I’ve been a reader since I was 4 or 5. And I branch out into many different genres!
I started reading seriously in college when I decided to major in English, and really ramped up my reading once I graduated and had more time widen my scope. I’ve been a pretty steady reader ever since.
I’ve been a reader since I was a kid and I like to expand my reading I don’t like sticking to just one genre when there’s so many good books to read ?
Lifetime reader but I read many different genres.
I started reading at 5 in kindergarten— haven’t stopped yet and old now
Reading and I have had a very rocky relationship. I read a lot as a kid but it just wasn’t fun for me as an adult. I made an effort to start reading again a few years ago. Read 3 books the first year and every year tried to read more than the last. Last year I read over 50 books.

No and no
Yes, and no.
I’ve always been a reader. In the beginning I stuck to chick lit and historical romances. Now I read anything but horror.
Yes and no
Yes, I love what I love, and the writers I love have kindly obliged me by either inspiring others to write in my favored genre, or by contributing to the collection with new novels.
