I like Steve Berry, David Baldacci and Jeffery Deaver to name a few. Most of these are thrillers which is my favorite genre. If you’re looking for something with dark humor, I would suggest Tim Dorsey Happy reading.
@Megan Fantastic series, but you’re committed for the long haul. He says it will be finished at 2 series of 5 books at ~400,000 words each, and he only just published the 3rd book of the first series. ?
Im on the train ?. I’m glad I’m young enough to know I should still be around for it to be finished. ??To be fair I would also recommend 99% of his works (especially era 1/2 Mistborn).
Fredrick Backman- Beartown, Us Against You, etc. His character developments are multi-faceted. Plots are a little more simplified than some, but with the characters you are not sure what will happen next!
Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides. It was so superbly written I stayed transfixed. Never read a book before like it, can’t explain what the genre is, but that is still one of my favorite books. I usually read mysteries, suspense, and sci-fi, so it was definitely off the beaten path for me!
Non-fiction: Smartest kids in the world Night (if you’ve never read it) In the garden of beasts Devil in the White city An Ordinary Man First they killed my father The year we disappeared
Fiction: A Court of Thorns and Roses series Tess Gerritsen Philippa Gregory Dark elements trilogy by Armentrout The Book Thief Looking for Alaska
The Einstein Prophecy is the latest historical thriller from award-winning author and journalist Robert Masello. It offers an intriguing mix of occult chills along with solid historical facts to create an absorbing read.
For historical fantasy with a bit of sci-fi (parallel universed and time travel) I recommend Arcadia by Iain Pears. Also, The Infinite Library by Kane X. Faucher – both books are perfect for lovers of books and literature. Another amazing and touching historical fiction novel is The Gift of Rain by Tan Twan Eng.

One of my all time favorites

@Megan I love his Mistborn series more than the Stormlight Archive. Especially Wax and Wayne. So good.
@Aaron Wayne is seriously one of the funniest characters I have ever read. Era 2 is usually not my style of read, but it has been so enjoyable!
Karin Slaughter for sure
Robert bryndza series
Praise Song for the Butterflies by Bernice L McFadden
I’m finishing up the last of my Aughusten Burroughs books. I enjoy a fast and sometimes funny read. He’s quite endearing.
