#UnpopularOpinion: A Wrinkle In Time. My mother claims it as her favorite book. I didn’t read it until anout 4 or 5 years ago maybe… She asked how I liked it. I asked if the author had done acid in her life because I had no idea what I’d just read…
I read it as an adult as well, and felt the same way! For the life of me I cannot understand why people rave about it. To each his own, but it was the weirdest book I have ever read.
Dear Goddess yes! I read this one and Animal Farm in High school and had nightmares. I told my English teacher that I would take a failing grade for them I’m not reading it.
I think Fifty Shades of Grey was the weirdest book I ever read because I found it boring however the book didn’t show the real meaning and purpose of love.
The White Trilogy . Read it because I enjoyed fifty shades, figured it would be another easy read and it was nothing but a mess of confusion, weird stuff and crazy plot that got worse and worse in the books.
All of his books are murder mysteries. They remind me in a way of cozies but with a twist. His Nursery Crime series take a nursery rhyme character and have them murdered and the mystery solved. The Thursday Next series have a detective, Thursday, and she investigates murders. A character from a book leaves the book and becomes part of the story. SHADES OF GREY so far is a single book but fans are pulling for a sequel. In it people only see in monochromatic colors so their jobs are related to the colors they see. There is a murder and a detective working to solve it. Fforde has also written a series for young readers, but I enjoy them. They are sort of scifiish as to the characters, but quite good.

I loved SHADES OF GREY by Jasper Fforde but it is a weird book. In fact, all of his books are a little weird, but I adore them.
What are his books about?
SHADES OF GREY was amazing. He was planning a prequel but it just keeps getting pushed back.
I know, @Amanda. I sure wish he would write it.
I think he’s found the YA series more lucrative.
Probably so. I know also that he said that SHADES OF GREY was very personal, so I think he is having a hard time writing it.
What is that about?
Patricia Miller, if you are asking about SHADES OF GREY, check out my reply in the comment above.
The cover graphics seem to say it all.
I have actually wanted to read this. Is it good or not worth it?
It was funny and weird. I actually liked it better than that god awful FSOG.
