I could not get into the book. I have picked it up and put it down several times over the last year. I fell asleep during the first movie. I thought the new movie was more strange than scary.
But let me also add the young actress who had a horrible father…she actually kept my attention. Other then that If she wasn’t in the scene I would lose interest.
That’s true. Some of the realizations they used in Chapter One was originally from the latter part of the book when they’re adults, if I remember correctly, so I’m not sure exactly how they make that work.
I enjoyed the beginning, up until they showed Pennywise. The way I read and understood the book, Pennywise wasn’t insane, he was methodical and meticulous. It just drove me crazy every time I saw him.
Unfortunately, the problem with book to movie adaptations – especially Mr. King – is that it’s nearly impossible to stick to the book. There are too many details in the book that won’t translate onto the screen.
That being said, I loved the movie. It had to be broken up into two parts in order to include as much as possible. And, what could not be expressed in the film had to be replaced in such a way that the movie made sense to Joe Moviegoer.
Considering the history of crappy King adaptations…i enjoyed the movie. The books are always better but when you get a King adaptation that’s doesn’t make you want to curse for 95% of the movie (dreamcatcher, Cell, dark tower, under the dome tv series…just to name a few) then it’s a win for me.
No remake will ever be as good as the original IT, with Tim Curry as PENNYWISE! I saw the new IT when it first came out…it was done pretty well, but the original will always be the best to me!!
There’s not one King movie I’ve really liked. The Shining was pretty good, but it was SO different from the book. IT was ridiculous. Embarrassingly bad.
Major let down. If they had let Penny go really bat ass crazy it would have been better. The actor was great but you could tell they were holding him back.
I loved it.
I can’t watch the new IT because I love the book and the original so much. The new Pennywise looks scary, though.
No I loved it … one of the few movies I liked better than the original

I haven’t seen it yet, but the original scared me to death.
No I loved it!!
Yes
Yes. I thought it was so dumb. If I could’ve gotten a refund…I would have!
I also struggled with the book, but I managed to read it. It killed me to watch the movie. I was very disappointed.. ?
Creepy
Yes, it was. It was overly creepy to me. I feel like they tried to hard and deviated too much.
I thought it was really good. Looking forward to the sequel.
I think there would be another chapter coming, because they are still kids in the movie. If they grow up, they will fight IT again on the next chapter.
2nd chapter comes out next year
But let me also add the young actress who had a horrible father…she actually kept my attention. Other then that If she wasn’t in the scene I would lose interest.
Yep! Bev and Eddie. The rest kind of just feel through for me.
Ya bev was good really good

It was good in my opinion. My husbands first Stephen King book based movie and he enjoyed it
Yes and no! There were parts I liked and parts I didn’t

Not at all! Loved IT!!

I waited until it went to red box so I didn’t spend to much

Yes! Jigsaw was way better.
Yes
Kinda
I loved it.

I haven’t seen the movie, yet. But for me there is no other Pennywise than the incomparable Mr. Tim Curry!
I didn’t think it was scary at all but I liked it better than the original.
My son’s love it! I haven’t watched it yet.
I loved it. Definitely better than the old, corny made for tv version.
I enjoyed it, thought it was very well done and enjoyable. I look forward to chapter 2

I agree completely. The way they made Pennywise ruined it for me.
Loved “IT”
The beginning was good then it went crap.
So bad
The first one scared the shit out of me, why would I go and see the remake?
Never seen the previous TV movie(s) or read the book — it was a nice movie to watch with friends, but nothing more.
I enjoyed it.
Loved It!!!
Well, it’s probably hard to get people excited about information technology, even as a movie.
