I’m following as I’m interested too. I’m so tired of either the Twilight rewrites and copies, and the stories that have the “I’m a __fill in the blank__ and my love interest is a __vampire/werewolf/shapeshifter/etc__ and they really piss me off however I’m now finding myself attracted to them” and then mix in some either really sweet and sappy love stuff that would fit in a Harlequin romance, or is filled with teenage angst. If you’re going to put love/romance in there, don’t make it cringy (or is just so badly written that it’s almost embarrassing) …. or don’t put it in there at all. If it’s in the background and doesn’t really figure in or show up in the story line – fine …. however please PLEASE ….. no more Edward/Bella wanna-be’s ……
Trust me, you won’t get that with David McAfee’s 33AD series.
A vampire assassin kills a vampire that had just turned Christian. Except he also kills a Roman family in the process. A Roman Legionaire assassin begins to track him.
Their initial fight – one in which the Legionaire gives the vampire more trouble than he should be able to – binds them… and leads to them fighting across the decades of the first century through several of its major events. 😀
Carrion Comfort – Dan Simmons The Golden – Lucius Sheppard Anno Dracula – Kim Newman Good Friday – Karl Wagner Any Jim Butcher “Harry Dresden” books – he has an interesting spin on his vampire and fae characters
Christopher Pike’s Thirst, also known as The Last Vampire series. It’s like vampires meets private investigator, meets Hindu religious culture, meets tomb raider. It’s completely unique.
Dracula

The romance was a vital part of this one.
But it’s not a a cheesy romance like others
