Less & less frequently especially as more likely to read e-books now. And if I’d judged a book by its cover, I would never have read my favourite books of all time. Was however intrigued/influenced by the blurb on the inside of the sleeve. The Dorothy Dunnett Lymond Chronicles
It is a shame that authors, not in Stephen King’s league, have little if any control over what is on the cover. I have read books in which the cover doesn’t look anything like what is in the book. That may have stopped me from buying a book I would have liked
No. I’m fascinated by some covers but my first move is always turning the book and reading the blurb. If there isn’t any, I read the first few chapters. Or check for reviews online. If its not what I’m looking for, I drop it and move on. Always.
I did it today at the thrift store! Picked up a book because of the title and put it right back because of the cover. Did not even read what it was about. (Don’t throw stones)
Constantly. Lol am I the only person that gets annoyed when they see a book cover that is eerily similar to a best seller’s but it’s by a different author???
I do-If I see a pink cover or any other pastel colored cover-I know to just leave it be. There’s a 99% chance it’s not a book I’d be interested in reading.
I do it all the time!
Yes, often!
Always
All the time…it’s what usually makes me pick it up. That and an original or unusual title ?
Yes, many times.
All the time, I love a good cover and a good title.
of course; graphic design is important
Of course sometimes
all the time, most of the time
I always judge the book by the cover, the way It feels in my hands and how it smells etc. ?
Yes. I started reading The Book of M by Peng Shepherd just because the cover spoke to me. And it didn’t lie, it’s really good so far.
It is ‘its’ with no apostrophe because you’re referring to the book’s cover, ie a possessive description …
Never nice to correct grammar. You are making the assumption that English is their first language.
Certainly plays a large role, initially.
All the time.
All the time
Yup! I love book covers…the only reason I sometimes buy a book rather than use my Kindle.
All the time.

Yes, so often.
All the time. So many books, not enough time. Need a quick way to narrow them down!
All the time! If the cover looks interesting, I’ll pick it up and read the blurb on the back.
Definitley
Yesss
Yes, a wine by its label, too.
Ditto ?
Absolutely. If the cover is enticing or beautiful, I’m more likely to pick it up and read the blurb on the back/inside cover.
All the time
YES!
Yes and I overrated it. (Gabriel’s inferno)
That’s generally how I decide on what to purchase ?
Judged? No, but porchased, yet. Some covers definitely draw me in.
Routinely, both positively and negatively. I found one of my all-time favorite books because it had a compelling cover.
Yes

I almost always do. I am not attracted to an ugly cover.
No. I’m fascinated by some covers but my first move is always turning the book and reading the blurb. If there isn’t any, I read the first few chapters. Or check for reviews online. If its not what I’m looking for, I drop it and move on. Always.
Everytime I choose one at the library

Oh yes. I have picked some wonderfully quirky and very good books, based on the cover
No, but I am often seduced by a title.
Yes lol.
Constantly. Lol am I the only person that gets annoyed when they see a book cover that is eerily similar to a best seller’s but it’s by a different author???
Alll the time. But I also read the jacket cover and reviews.
Unfortunately I do allll the time.
Yes and the first two pages of the chapter.
Always!
Yes
Yes..
Naturally, specially if don’t know the author.
Yes, those erotic romance novels with ripped men on the covers.
Me to Audrey Harris. Me to.
I look at the cover first. But I do check for blurbs too.
All the time, but the blurb with the plot, size of print, and number of pages determines whether I buy it or not.
All the time
Yes ??????
I do-If I see a pink cover or any other pastel colored cover-I know to just leave it be. There’s a 99% chance it’s not a book I’d be interested in reading.
I like to read the first few pages. I can usually tell whether I like it or not. But not always.
Often. Some completely say no. Others I can’t resist picking up. Neapolitan Series by Elena Ferrante are the most gorgeous ever
Yes, often interesting artwork or an intriguing cover will lure me in to try a book.
Yes
I do allllll the time. Literally- never figuratively.
Yes
Yes.
Yes
I try and figure out who the cover is aimed at–women readers, men, millennials, older readers, etc.
I am sometimes attracted by a book cover, but I always have a good look through it before buying it
Oh yes!!!
All. The. Time. I’m sorry but if the cover is shite I’m not buying it ? Especially with e-books. Mother of christ, some of the covers are diabolical ?
Yes and they were amazing
yes, TIMBUKTU by Paul Auster
and my judgement took me to a great book
Yup
