Look For Me By Moonlight by Mary Downing Hahn. Tenth grade, my tutor told me to find a book and read it, write down every word I didnt know. I handed her a long list, it was this book that showed me books could be fun even if I didnt know every word.

It was way earlier when I was about 9. I lived across the street from a small “branch” library (remember them?). I discovered a love of biographies and read every single one in the children’s section.

@Nicci so was I. Then again, they always say the book is always better than the movie

If you’ve ever read the lovely bones, it’s a great but sad book. There’s also a movie too and it’s just as good as the book. The lovely bones is that 1%

I agree. There are very few movies that are as good as the book and that book is one of them!

I was hooked way earlier than a teen. For me I learned how to read at age 4, and I never stopped reading. I can’t quite remember what it was that I was reading at that age. I do know that when I was young I loved the Wrinkle in Time books and this young mystery series with the child detective called Sammy Keyes.

I was hooked as soon as I learned to read, around age 5 or 6. One of the earliest books I remember independently reading in Elementary School was Jillian Jiggs. Had that whole book memorized lol. And Bernstein Bears…In Grandmas Attic….the Babysitters Club….then later on I remember Jane Austen when I was about 12, and The Outsiders…too many to remember as I always had a book in my hand from age 5 or 6
