I loved it. I think it mixed heavy and whimsical perfectly. It’s one of those books that made my heart ache one minute and had me laughing out loud the next.

I listened to the audiobook. It was slow starting and I intended to stop listening to it, but got busy doing something, and next thing I know I’m completely engrossed and couldn’t stop listening to it.

I loved it. I would say it’s in my favorite 10 books. Have you read it yet, or getting thoughts before you start it?

I started it once and found it slow so put it aside, but picked it for a book group snd listened to the audiobook. I liked 2nd half better than the beginning.

Just started reading this book today. So far, I’m really enjoying it. It’s kind of an emotional roller coaster, though. It has me giggling at points, and then feeling for the lonely Ove… Can’t wait to see how the whole story line unfolds!

It was ok. I finished it but I got tired of hearing what a crank Ove is. I wouldn’t say it was a must read, it was just ok.

Enjoy, Fredik Backman is a wonderful writer

He’s new to me. In part because of this group. Although, I have a fairly high rejection rate.

I loved the dry humor. Good book. I think all the people in my book club enjoyed it! I kept picturing Ove to look like Red Foreman from the 70s Show. Lol

I don’t know why but it took me a couple of attempts to get into it, but once I did I loved it. So glad I persevered. Loved the film too.

I loved the story …thought the ending was unnecessary.

I’m curious, how so?

0
Mary

Maybe, predictable is more what I meant. I think it could have ended without his death, and the financial windfall felt gratuitous.

Ashley

I love Ove so much. I couldn’t love him more. He’s my favorite Backman character easily.

The pain in the ass old man. The dark humour. But it ultimately wins you and moves you at the end. I remember tearing up towards the end.

Didn’t like Ove at first. Thought he was an old jerk. I even asked myself “Why am I reading about this old grouch?” but through his recollections, I began to really like him. I enjoyed learning why he was the way he was. By the end, I ugly cried. I really loved this book and highly recommend it.

Good enough to finish but hardly life-changing. Comfortable is a good descriptor. Also predictable. Nice. But I won’t search out the author’s other books.
