Love the world he’s created in those books, but I’m not terribly interested in the actual storyline.

I loved the whole trilogy when I read it in high school, but that was 18 years ago so I’m iffy on many of the details at this point.

Besides it being the best book ever? Listen to the audiobook! It’s a work of art in itself.

I think it’s more interesting as an adult! I just read the newly published prequel.

I enjoyed the whole trilogy, great worldbuilding and a strong plot line that flows though all 3 books. As an adult, there were layers for meaning that raised it above a mere children’s book.

I had trouble getting into the new one (a “prequel”) but still want to read to follow the story.

Original series …. near the top of my favorites list. I bought what he calls the prequel, Book of Dust I, almost as soon as it came out; then I tried for six months to get into it — it’s a slow starter, or I am. Once I got beyond the first chapter, I really enjoyed it.

In my top 3 books I recommend to people who loved Harry Potter. Great world building and a heroine of true heart. Lyra is one of my favorite characters of all time! ❤️

Pullman is quite militantly anti-christian and It comes out in his works. It can be quite a surprise, depending on your standpoint

anti-Church, I would say, rather than anti-Christian.
