Mediocre and over-rated. It sold a ton of books because the Catholic church bashed it. People love controversy…

I liked it. Fast paced, couldn’t put it down.

I read it for escapism and entertainment value and didn’t really get into the whole controversy thing. His books are meant to entertain, not deliver the secrets of the universe. And, sometimes that’s what I want in a book. 🙂

I really hated it, couldn’t even finish. To be honest, I tried reading it 3 times in different moments of my life and I could never push through more than half of it before giving up ?

Book all right. Movie dreadful. I preferred Angels and Demons. I did have it sussed by about half way through which is pretty bad because I never work out books.

It’s fast paced, full of action and dramatic in a good way. If you enjoy suspense, you will like it. There is a lot of facts and detailed information which can throw you off though. I would say, give it a try and see if it works for you.

I enjoyed it, but wasn’t a great fan of the others in the series for some reason. Just didn’t connect with them in the same way. I don’t know why. ?

I got so sucked into that book the first time I read it that I didn’t make dinner, and sat and read it straight through in about 3 hours.

You have Dan Brown lovers and Dan Brown haters. I happen to like his writing, it’s entertaining, well researched. You could say it follows an infallible recipe, his books are mostly structured the same, but the stories are captivating

I loved it, i found it interesting. It definitely makes you think about what actually happened during the days of Jesus and if what we have been told is what the catholic church wnts us to think

Loved it. I spent a college semester in Europe and was drawn to his setting and how statues/art/landmarks/etc. that I had seen were woven into the story.

The DaVinci Code was an okay book. But Dan Brown said the book was based on actual historical research and it’s not. It’s based on conspiracy kook websites and debunked hypotheses that no scholar takes remotely seriously.

If it were actually based on real research I would have liked it better. Or if he at least admitted it was based on “research” which is at the level of UFO abductees and Bigfoot hunters, at least I’d have been able to appreciate that he was being honest.

I love Dan Browns books. I like to read them with a computer near by so I can look at the art and locations. I would stalk him when he researches if I wasn’t so lazy and it wasn’t so far.

I also thought that the controversy surrounding this book was bizarre being that this is a work of fiction.

Origin is a very interesting book. It looks forward rather than backwards as the other ones. Worth the read.

The author found a niche, and is beating it like a rented mule. I liked the History and the Plot. Writing isn’t very good.

The plot was mainly good – though some bits were risible. The writing is clunky, but the book moved with pace, so it’s not a bad read. Haven’t been tempted to read another Dan Brown though.

When it was first published it was pretty groundbreaking. It was largely because of his work that this particular body of esoteric thought did become widely known.

Holy Blood, Holy Grail was published in 1982, which espoused the same information. Books on the Knights Templar had brought up the ideas a long time ago. So when people were horrified over the thought that Jesus had married and fathered children, my reaction was, “Yeah, and?”
