PS.: the film doesn’t even compare! It’s like someone telling a beautiful and complex story in a few minutes!
A good film if you haven’t read the book!

Started twice, got further 2nd time and was liking it but then stopped and couldn’t bring myself to pick it back up. Eventually traded it away.

I originally started the book and couldn’t get into it….then watched the movie which I loved…I then re read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Absolutely could not get on with the book and eventually (most unusual for me) gave up.
To my amazement, watched the film for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was outstanding -poignantly beautiful……..

Found it an easy read as did my kids. You have to suspend belief & just go with the fact that death is narrating. Had me in tears. A great book

I found it an easy read too… Can’t understand (or maybe just don’t remember) why some people find it hard to get into… Book is much better than film.. IMHO

i loved it but it was a marmite book (either loved or hated) i guess it helps if your interested in the storyline genre i had one friend couldn’t get into and read a couple other books and went back to it and found better second attempt

Struggled at first until someone mentioned that it was narrated by ‘Death’. On e I understood that, everything fell into place for me and I loved it.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to persevere, I like that fact that death is narrating it, it’s a bit different in that way, I’m not really sure why I’m struggling to get into it… But I’m not too far in yet, I’ll give it a bit more time! 🙂

Absolutely touching. I didn’t understand the first chapter, but I stuck with it and now itvs one of my favorites. Especially the last line/sentence.
Had me in tears.
