Absolutely could not get on with the book and eventually (most unusual for me) gave up. To my amazement, watched the film for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was outstanding -poignantly beautiful……..
I found it an easy read too… Can’t understand (or maybe just don’t remember) why some people find it hard to get into… Book is much better than film.. IMHO
i loved it but it was a marmite book (either loved or hated) i guess it helps if your interested in the storyline genre i had one friend couldn’t get into and read a couple other books and went back to it and found better second attempt
Thanks everyone! I’m going to persevere, I like that fact that death is narrating it, it’s a bit different in that way, I’m not really sure why I’m struggling to get into it… But I’m not too far in yet, I’ll give it a bit more time! 🙂
Absolutely touching. I didn’t understand the first chapter, but I stuck with it and now itvs one of my favorites. Especially the last line/sentence. Had me in tears.

Started twice, got further 2nd time and was liking it but then stopped and couldn’t bring myself to pick it back up. Eventually traded it away.
I gave up but saw the film which was lovely

Found it an easy read as did my kids. You have to suspend belief & just go with the fact that death is narrating. Had me in tears. A great book

I would say yes, stick with it! I read it a long while ago but it stayed with me. So much better than the film!
Struggled at first until someone mentioned that it was narrated by ‘Death’. On e I understood that, everything fell into place for me and I loved it.
