It’s so good! The books are really big and there are 8 of them so it’s practically impossible to get bored! They are historical, romantic and just lovely! And Gabladon is an excellent story teller I would highly recommend!

Meh…nice idea, too much sex gets in the way of plotline

No offense but their really is not much sex in them compared to 90% of the romance books out today, plus personally what sex their is is done tastefully not trashy.

Wasn’t my cup of tea. Too much sexual activity – for me it took away from what the story could be. (To start). I also can’t stand the MC.

Do you mind telling what your favorite books are? What book has your favorite Male Character?

1
J.S.

Dresden Files (Harry Dresden) is a big favorite male character, but I should have said Main Character lol. I got too caught up in another forum discussion.

I like fantasy, science fiction and romance, so naturally I assumed I would love Outlander.

1
Cleopatra

@J.S. so you didn’t like the Female Claire? Lol that’s understandable

1
J.S.

@Cleopatra I found her character flakey and very self serving.

0
Cleopatra

@J.S. I can see that I am a huge fan of the series I’m actually listening to the audio version as we have this conversation. She can come off as self severing but she is also kind and giving she is flawed like us all. I just put Dresden Files on my to read list

0
J.S.

@Cleopatra I see that, too. But overall I felt bad for J.

0
Cleopatra

@J.S. she did give him plenty of headaches how many of the books did you read?

0
J.S.

@Cleopatra I read book one, but just barely. Attempted book 2, didn’t get very far.

0
Cleopatra

Lol that explains why you feel the way you do about Claire you are absolutely correct with your assessment with what you’ve read she she gets better

I’m currently reading it and still can’t decide what to think. So far it’s interesting but slow, and my feelings about the characters have changed about 50 times so far (and still on the middle of book one). I expected something different for sure but I’m willing to give it a chance. If it doesn’t work for me, I’m going for the TV series.

Is it appropriate for a 7th grade boy?

Akseli

I wouldn’t say so no. There’s some sexual content in it. Not detailed. But you can tell

0
Michele

@Akseli gotcha! Thanks! Really appreciate that info!

1
Michele

Akseli Harjunpäähe has read The Road, and Of Mice and Men…discussions while reading both because they do have some sexual reference and violence in both but wasn’t confused or taken aback whatsoever. I have never read any Outlander books.
