No. I did not like this book at all. I found the voice annoying, the structure gimmicky, and the German setting unrealistic. (I live in Germany and I could tell at once that the author has never lived there.)
That movie was not crap. This is actually one of the movies my kids likes better than the book they usually hate movies based on books. That movie made me cry.
No. My kids found it quite boring, my daughter wouldn’t have finished it if it had not been a summer reading book. My boys mostly the learn how to say a lot of bad words in German and found parts of it funny. Parts of it are tedious but it is intriguing enough on its own, if you can get through the first part of it it has a very unique story line, and I think the emotions the books make you feel make it a good read in the end. I would ignore the hype and just enjoy the book, if you can, it’s not for everyone and it’s not an easy read.

I would tell January that it might be a bit above the reading level of children. I would also share my mother’s wry wit and wisdom. She always told us that “boredom is a sign of a poorly-stocked mind.” If we ever said we were bored, she found some pretty diabolical chores for us to do.
I believe so! Unfortunately, due to being forced to stay for a very long time in hospital- and due to being unable to fully concentrate on this novel, I was unable to finish reading it to the end. This is to be rectified asap! Please enjoy!!
