Austen, then Charlotte Bronte. I am not much of an Emily Bronte fan. Wuthering Heights, the second half in particular, pushes ‘dysfunctional family’ into the realm of extreme psycopathy; Heathcliff is more monster than brooding hero. I don’t know what was going on in that claustrophobic little parsonage in Haworth, but it did strange things to Emily’s head.
@Elizabeth lol call me weird but the pure madness and toxicity of wuthering heights is what i enjoy most??. This book just gives me such raw emotions that though not pretty, i will remember and cherish forever. Also, the setting is so beautifully described. I’m gonna make a shameless confession that i usually skim read a lot of landscape description in classics because, you know, it’s so lengthy and kinda boring. But this book, in particular, I enjoy every bit of the description.
Just finished reading ‘Shirley’…confirms my love of Charlotte Bronte, who’s probably my favourite female author (not just my preference over Austen). I’d definitely recommend it and Villette to those whose only exposure to CB is Jane Eyre (which is a great novel, but it shouldn’t eclipse the others the way it does.)
Jane Austen!
Team Austen❤️
Wuthering Heights was a masterpiece.
Anne Brontë!
My two favourites but Bronte is #1
Austen <3
Team Austen 🙂
Both.

Charlotte and Anne Bronte, then Austen, then Emily Bronte…but Emily might grow on me.
@David mine is actually in reverse?: emily, anne, and charlotte
@David also i think Wuthering heights is kinda of a hit or miss though…
Brontes no question. Particularly Jane Eyre
@Maureen yess that’s one of my favorite as well! Although I don’t really like rochester that much…
Bronte! Jane Eyre is an absolute favorite
Currently reading “Emma”! Team Austen, then!

@David I definitely want to check out Villette?
Austen- P&P was very monumental for me! Bronze is spectacular, but Austen holds a special place in my heart!
@Lynne I love this shirt!
@Lynne omg that’s so cute?
