I use overdrive and hoopla with my library card and its free.
Otherwise, Google just announced that they’re offering ebooks now through Google books, and it’s roughly the same deal as Audible, minus the monthly fee. I know Amazon always offers to add the audio file if they have it when I buy ebooks as well.
if you like Young adult sci-fi books I can recommend the ILLUMINAE files by Amie Kaufman & Jay kristoff, the Starbound trilogy by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner, Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray and Shadow run by Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller. Those are my absolute favorites among sci-fi at the moment <3
there are several new Young adult sci-fi being released this years as well! Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner just released the first book in a new sci-fi series called Unearthed.
Then there’s all of these other young adult sci-fi books still coming our way this year as well: – honor among thieves by rachel caine – heart of iron by ashley poston – obsidio by jay kristoff & amie kaufman (book 3 in the illuminae files) – the final six by alexandra monir – defy the worlds by claudia gray (sequel to defy the stars)
And I’m sure there are a lot more sci-fi releases this year but I mainly focus on the YA books. I do plan on reading Artemis soon, because I’m very excited about reading an adult sci-fi book as well.
Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson. Any of his “Planet” books: Red Planet, Blue Planet, etc. Seveneves by Neal Stephenson. Both of Andy Weir’s books, The Martian and Artemis. I am a huge fan of hard science fiction, so I could list a dozen more.
A Fire Upon the Deep and A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge, some absolutely stunning space opera. while they’re loosely related, they don’t have to be read in order.
Illuminae!
I just bought this series I haven’t read them yet though. I’ve been reading a lot of space list. My whole TBR list is space books
The audio books for this series are full cast, sound effects and pure awesome.
