House of Sand and Fog. It doesn’t get any more sad then that book. Hands down one of my favorite books along with The Glass Castle. I highly recommend both.
I read The House of Sand and Fog over a thanksgiving long weekend, years ago. Back when Oprah had her book club deal. It was a GREAT book and the movie was not bad either.
