I’m not sure if it’s because I’m decorating and picking it up when I can . I may put it down till I’ve finished my painting. And then read without any unnecessary stops. ?
@Colette that’s the best way. But I have often found it a let down watching the film after reading the book because so much is missing from the film, I know they can’t put the whole book into a film
This book really moved me then I lent it to my sister and she was massively underwhelmed! Horses for courses I guess. Film was mega-disappointing in my opinion…
I struggled with this one too as I hate to be defeated by a book but there are so many other wonderful books out there, read something else and come back to it another time 🙂
This is one of my favourite books ever however my approach to reading this year is to not slog on with something I’m not enjoying! You can always pick it up again another time and maybe it will ‘click’. There’s lots of other great stuff to read out there, it shouldn’t be a punishment! ?
I couldn’t do it for years. Started it so many times. One day I decided to just finish it. It’s my fav all time book and it’s the only book I’ve reread many times.
I loved it.
Carry on, it’s worth it. X
Continue- it is so gorgeous especially the last third
It’s a great book, carry on 🙂 x
Continue!
I struggled with it too… ?

I gave up on it but have heard nothing but good reports on it. Will try again one day!
@Kathryn it could be worth watching the film if you haven’t already then you might find the book easier to read x
It’s brilliant x
Keep going. I loved it – better than the film by far!
Continue, it took me a while to into but it was worth it x
I have read this now 3 times. Something new every time I’d missed the last time. Btw the film was awful!
I haven’t seen the film . But I prefer to read the book before watching the films. X
@Colette that’s the best way. But I have often found it a let down watching the film after reading the book because so much is missing from the film, I know they can’t put the whole book into a film
@Hannah agree I’ve seen a few that don’t live up to the book. X
@Colette Bridget Jones diary was one! X
@Hannah I’ve not read them. Are they good x
i read them years ago so I can’t remember much lol, but I did enjoy them ? haven’t read the newest one yet but it’s on my shelf ready lol x
It is worth sticking with, in my opinion. It can seem confusing with the different ages of the character, but it does fit together!
Keep going!

Think I may skip the film ? but judging by everyone’s response I’ll keep reading. X
I loved this book. The film made it look creepy and perverted though. Lol
If you’re not enjoying a book, stop reading it
There’s millions more out there
I struggled with this one too as I hate to be defeated by a book but there are so many other wonderful books out there, read something else and come back to it another time 🙂
Life’s to short to battle through a book you’re not enjoying. I say leave it and move on to the next one x
I loved it
I loved this book. Took a while to fathom it out, but definitely worth persevering
I loved it, you do need to get your head around the dates and ages, but it is one of my favourite books of all time
Continue it’s my favorite book I’ve read it three times and I never re read any book ?

@Katy Mine too!!

Continue!!
I liked it!
I really struggled with this and gave up. I read for pleasure and don’t want to waste my time when there’s so much more for me to read xxx
I’d say keep going. I really loved it
Keep going it’s fab
Oh I loved it so much!!! But if you don’t, don’t bother. Time is too short to trudge through a book you don’t like.
continue!
i gave up x but i will go back to it one day x
I loved this book but I often struggle to get into books others have loved. Watch the film instead ? (I hope i don’t get booted for that ???)
Keep going! The date lines are confusing but you will get the hang of it! Years since a read it but did love it!

Yes, keep going, I loved it
I loved it, but unless you want to fill out a 10 page personality survey I can’t really judge whether you’ll warm to it or not… ?
Absolutely loved it. Keep going. Time shift stories can be a bit confusing though!
I loved this book. Tissues and chocolate required!
I loved it…
Persevere! Loved it.
Continue
I started it years ago but gave up after a couple of chapters. Not really interested in the topic so probs won’t go back to it.
Same here. Perhaps its the subject matter but it didn’t grab me all all.
Going to give it 2 more chapters and if I can’t get into it. I’ll give up. ?
Sometimes have to go back a chapter
I gave up with that one years ago – never did go back to it and it’s not often I don’t persevere with a book!
Oh, I loved it.
Yes, I thought it was fantastic when I read it. Really clever and interesting ideas as well as good writing.
It just gets better!!! One of my all time favourites – heartbreakingly beautiful ?
The film’s good too.
@Catharine I didn’t like it – I really wanted too but think I love the book too much! ??♀️
It’s my favourite book I love it
Carry on carry on carry on.
Keep on truckin
I gave up….tried and tried again, but decided life’s too short for books I can’t get on with! ??
Absolutely adored it but if you’re not enjoying it, life’s too short. Let it go xx
Books are subjective. Not all books that are acclaimed are to everyone’s taste. If you don’t like it then ditch it xxx
It ended up one of my favorites. But I listened to it on an audiobook. It felt smoother with the different voices when different characters talked.
Its worth the read.
Keep reading, it’s an absolutely beautiful novel.
Give up!
I struggled, was shocked it was on Richard and Judy’s book list. Never got into it
Carry on x
Definitely continue! Fantastic book x
Stick at it x
Keep going
I gave up!!
