There’s a LOT of world building but the payoff is worth it.

I was disappointed. It had such potential but never really grabbed me.

Patience. Starts of slow but once it starts building its worth it

I didn’t think the beginning was boring at all. Miserable and depressing maybe. 🙂

Sounds like some of you thought it was way slow and overhyped

It’s a bit confusing at the beginning because you’re learning about the world and magic as the characters are but things clear up in the second half and things click into place. Enjoy!

It’s easily one of my favorite series of all time. And I don’t say that about unfinished series, but, what he is building with the cosmere is freaking fantastic!

As a starting point for a planned 10 book series, the first bit could be boring for some people as it involves a lot of world building and character introduction. trust me and stick with it. If you do, it will grow on you and after the third book…let’s just say this series is looking like the next great thing in fantasy

Tip: listen to The Duke And Duchess podcast to accompany the book.

What is it about?

Hoffman

It’s a husband and wife book club style podcast. Wife has read the books multiple time while the husband is unspoiled. So far the have covered king killer and gentlemen bastards. Currently they are reading way of kings too and you might find it more interesting if you can listen to some discussion about the book as you read through it. Also, if you are struggling through any slow spots it might motivate you to keep up with the podcast.

Take your time. Just because Sanderson writes fast doesn’t mean you have to read it that way.
