Yes I bought it on Amazon through a third party seller. Maybe do to weather but it took 10 days or so to deliver.

I will say I wasn’t very impressed. I had to push through. It just was not much of a plot. A lot of continuing remembrance of past characters. I’d read it didn’t get good reviews but I wanted to give it a try and was curious to see how it would end.

It wasn’t entirely not worth it but it just couldn’t reach Rebecca level. Understandable since it was a different author.

I would recommend skipping the sequel. It goes in a direction I really wasn’t expecting and is nowhere near du Maurier’s standard of writing.

Rebecca’s Tale by Sally Beauman. I have a copy in my online book store but I’m in the UK do depending on your location postage could be expensive

Absolutely love it. One of my all time favourites. There is actually a prequel to it called Rebecca’s Tale by Sally Beauman it gives the story from Rebecca’s own perspective.

Thanks for the tip. I have Rebecca’s Tale, but haven’t read it yet. I didn’t realize it was a prequel to Rebecca. I’ll move it up on my TBR list 🙂

It’s sold as a prequel. To be honest it is in the sense that it tells the story of Rebecca through her eyes. A lot of people are not enamoured with it@Dianee. I found it quite interesting to hear her story it filled in a few gaps if you see what I mean. It’s a totally different style of writing though.

No one could top Daphne Du Mauier’s writing, but it would be nice to get Rebecca’s side of the story. Oh, so many books, so little time

Val

Yes as I said it fills some gaps in when you read it @Diane.

I haven’t read it yet but I’m curious why you didn’t like it!

it’s been a long time since I read it. I think it was the fact that the title was named after the guys dead wife. For some reason that bothered me. Read as a teen.

I have trouble with the older British authors. They write in English, but it’s different English.
