Not sure if you’re in the US, but two series I’ve been enjoying recently, both of which are UK based, are Jessica Daniel and DCI Ryan.

These might be right up your alley. The tv series Murdoch Mysteries is based on these novels. https://www.amazon.com/Maureen-Jennings/e/B000APFLOA

It depends on what you want out of the book, I guess. The first book doesn’t quite tie everything up, but had great writing , pacing and characters.

I just finished this one, and it’s so good! It’s more of a psychological mystery/crime/thriller, of which I have been on a kick lately. The ones published by British authors are great.

Who are some of the crime and mystery authors you enjoy already? That’ll give me an idea of what to recommend.

AlexandraQuestion author

I got into the genre because we had a bunch of David Bell laying around which I generally enjoy, I just find his endings a bit lackluster and slap dash(: But I love shows like Law & Order: SVU, Forensic Files, Confession Tapes, Making a Murderer… etc if that helps(:

I’d recommend:

John Sandford’s Prey series.

Jeffery Deaver’s Lincoln Rhyme series.

Thomas Perry’s Jane Whitefield series.

Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole series.

Philip Kerr’s Berlin Noir series.

The Bayou Trilogy by Daniel Woodrell

The Ripley series by Patricia Highsmith

The Sueño / Bascom series by Martin Limón

Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben is SO good!!! His Myron Bolitar series is addicting, as well.
David Baladacci is a solid choice. His writing is pretty fast paced/action packed.

Depends on what kind you like—the field is huge. There are police procedurals, cozies, classics. Agatha Christie is always a good place to start, but you may have read those, try Marjory Allingham or Josephine Tey. Jacquelin Winspear’s Maisie Dobbs mysteries are good. John Grisham’s Camino Island is a nice read.
