Nook has the benefit of being made for books specifically and still has browsing capabilities. You can organize your bookshelves and you’re supporting Barnes and Noble by purchasing which was my main selling point. The con of the Kindle is supporting Amazon’s book takeover.

Also Barnes and Noble has a physical store you can go in

They’re building amazon stores, but I’m not sure how soon they will be all over.

I love amazon, have had prime for 7 years, and feel that I can depend on amazon to always be there. IMO, if a company is going to take over the world, at least amazon cares about me. Customer service is always top notch.
I had a regular Kindle, and it was fine for a cheap thing, but I don’t recommend it. Get the paperwhite. It’s amazing. My favorite feature is that it syncs to the Kindle app on my phone so I can read anywhere, anytime.

Also, kindle is on sale for prime day, and it’s the cheapest I’ve seen it before.

I have a Nook, but it’s hard to find the books I want and difficult to download. I have the Kindle app on my laptop, iPad, and iPhone. I like Kindle much better! ?

Amazon’s selection and user friendliness are just superior imho.

You could get the Kindle ap for your phone and use it as an ebook, if you want to save money.

Kindle! Always!
I had done research YEARS ago before I got my first kindle. The kindle just feels nicer overall. Also, I like how they aren’t backlit, but they have lights built into the bezel which shines on the page. And kindle has more books ? (I have owned 4 kindles in my life. I currently use the kindle voyage)

Is the voyage worth the up charge? I miss the buttons sooo bad.

@LR To me, it is! I almost got the paperwhite, but my friend convinced me to get the voyage and I’m so glad! Best decision!

Are there any other differences? I love my paperwhite but those buttons…

@LR well, the screen is made out of glass and not plastic for one thing. The screen is flush with the bezel (I always had crumbs get caught under the bezel). It’s smaller and has a light sensor, so it can tell what kind of light you are reading in and with adjust the light itself (but it still gives you the option to do it manually). The screen looks crisper to me. And a lot of other little things. I also always get the one with the free 3G

@LR also, the screen is still glare free even though it’s glass. It’s etched glass or something like that ?

Ooo. I am always trying to get those crumbs or cat hairs out from the corners, lol. I think I’m gonna have to find the money to upgrade someday. Thanks so much!

Also, I see you met Cassie Clare. Wasn’t she awesome???! I met her in 2012 and she was sooo nice.

@LR I heard! But it’s too far away for me ?

Neither. I love the smell of books….new books, old books, bits of parchment paper….anything lol maybe I’m weird

I love the book smell, too, so I bought some book smelling candles lol. I haven’t stopped buying paper books, in fact, I buy more things to read than ever before, either kindle or paper 🙂

I’ve had my Nook for almost seven years. No complaints here. I have zero trouble finding books, transferring files I DL online and preordering etc. I like how I use it for books ONLY and I feel like I’m supporting brick and mortar stores to an extent.

I had the first nook. It was a pain to transfer books to it, if it’s still like that definitely kindle. The nook you had to download software to your computer to transfer files. Then you had to download the epub file then you had to connect your nook to the computer, start up the software you downloaded to your computer open the epub in the software then tell it to transfer to the nook. For every single book! I’ve had a kindle for 3 years and haven’t looked back!

I’m thinking I’m with @Hannah on getting the Kindle Paperwhite

Kindle paperwhite for reading is hands down the best thing ever. (The voyage is good, too). Unless you have issues with Amazon as a company (which I definitely don’t, they provide amazing service) then I think it’s better. The prices are similar for ebooks but Amazon just has so much and many daily deals.
