So I know we’re mainly fanstay, however I was wondering if anyone has read any good westerns and or pirate books?

Have you read gentleman bastards? Book two is a pirate book and it’s a fantasy series. (Book one is a heist book)
It’s on my tbr, my gf is currently reading them and loves them. I’ve been searching for a good pirate series more than a western.
Yes! Red Seas Under Red Skies is a great book
The second Mistborn Trilogy are westerns.
@Cora true! I didn’t think of that. I actually like the second series better than the first.
@Richard I’m the opposite because Westerns aren’t my favorite. But I really liked the last book in the second trilogy.
@Cora I didn’t like because of its western vibes (though I didn’t mind it) I just like wax and Wayne better than vin and crew. More interesting and quite a bit lighter mood.

I loved the second Mistborn trilogy. It felt like a perfect blend of magic with the wild west.
Lonesome Dove ?
Robin Hobb, Magic Ship trilogy has some pirates.
@Mike that was an odd series.
I loved it!
Not pirates, but I do love Age of Sail Royal Navy fiction.
Check out ‘The Ketty Jay’ series by Chris Wooding. The Black Lung Captain is the first book.
Retribution Falls is the first I think. Would definitely recommend the series
@Joanne it’s been a while since I read the series ?
Jennifer Ellision’s Over Raging Tides is the first book in a series about lady pirates. Short and fun to read
This was highly recommended by a few docs I work with. Not sure???
By books on Pirates I assume you’re looking for something with a Golden Age Of Piracy theme (canons, guns) at which point I’d either recommend Tim Severn, or Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. Even the Pirates of the Carribbean novels.
Unfortunately the subject of pirates is usually stuck to things like Romance where authors don’t even come remotely close to having piratical elements (which makes one wonder why they chose to model a book off pirates) and there are very few books about that period of time, even when looking for historical information.
I’ve just started Wake of Vultures by Lila Bowen. Definitely got western vibes
