The Stranger Beside Me, by Ann Rule about Ted Bundy. Also Helter Skelter by Curt Gentry and Vincent Bugliosi, about Charles Manson.

More memoir than true crime but Waiting to be Heard by Amanda Knox is really good.

Any Ann Rule book. She was an excellent writer. Chilling stories but told in a way you almost think it’s fiction. Her books will keep you up reading all night!
