I read his first book and could not finish the rest, because the entire book felt like a travel itinerary, such as, “Characta X went here, and then here, and then here, and then here, and then went home.” Very little plot for my liking.
Ryan Anthony hmmm, honestly I loved all his works but I would start with the Rigante series. Sword in the storm. Waylander and the other Drenai books are amazing too. Legend was his first but I would read others first as legend is not the best writing although a good storyline.
Ryan Anthony please let me know what you think if you read his books. I will not delete this post so you can reply if you ever do read them. Him and Michael J Sullivan are probably my 2 most faves.
Ryan Anthony for MJS i would start with the ryiria books before the age of myth series. Although the age series are good but incomplete start with Theft of swords, rise of empire, heir of novron. He then wrote a prequel series called the Riyria chronicles, then the age series. Gemmell is easier to read and although his drenai books are a series you could also read them as one offs.
Mallorean is a bit of a retread of the Belgariad, but if you loved it, that may not be a bad thing. Some interesting new characters. Elenium is good. I also enjoyed his Belgarath/Polgara prequels, though they pick up after the Mallorean before going back, so if you haven’t read that, it might seem strange. The Redemption of Althalus was the only DE book I just couldn’t get through.
Eddings is a classic he is one of the reasons I got into fantasy and if you enjoyed the first ones you will love them all. Why not try Raymond Feist, he is my other Fantasy hero.
Move on to Malorean, same world/characters. Then try the Elinium and the Tamuli, different world, more mature topics and darker plot. Natural progress from there is definitely on to Raymond Feist as Nicola has suggested; similar style, books for the ages. Loved the Magician/Silverthorn/Darkness at Sethanon trilogy and then all those spin-offs. I reckon Jimmy The Hand must be the origin of a lot of the modern assassin/thief/underworld themes, such as Brent Weeks. Loved this plot!
I didn’t like that series. I thought it was really repetitive. I did like the first book even though I thought it was predictable. Maybe if I read it when I was younger I’d have liked it more. I was like 30 when I read it. 😉
Yeah I’m 35. I have read better books but if you can get past the constant traveling the. The story is quite good. I will probably give the rest a go. Like I said above, Gemmell and Sullivan are probably my favourite authors I’ve read so far.

It’s lightweight but they are ok. I prefer Gemmell but its quite refreshing to get away from the over plot wielding Sanderson.

Yes they are
If you enjoyed those first books you’ll enjoy his other ones too. I know I do.
If u liked Belgariad then you should read Mallorean. Fast paced
Elenium is better, so yes

Definitely!
I really liked his first two series. If you liked the first you’ll like the next ones.
Belgarath and Polgara are definitely worth the read

Yeah, I recommend Eddings for younger readers.
I read in my teens
