Yes, sometimes when I need a pick up or I’m in a reading slump, I’ll pick up a book that brings me back to happier times. Usually, Anne of Green Gables ?
Sadly, I don’t think so. She’s had some serious health issues these past couple of years and even suffered some memory loss so she hasn’t been writing.
Narnia, it was my first obsession with fantasy. Enid Blyton was my favorite author throughout my entire childhood. I still like knowing what the Famous Five and Secret Seven are up to
I just love Enid Blyton, they were a staple of my childhood. I used to build forts out of blankets in my bedroom, and spend the night in there with a flashlight and her books.
I did the same ?… I spent nights hiding under my quilt and reading her books …. Every summer my cousins and I would turn our grandma’s tool shed into our secret HQ ?? … Enid Blytons made our childhood so much fun
I spent most of my childhood alone. Literary characters were often my only friends, a;d yet I didn’t feel lonely when I was on an adventure with my ‘friends’.
I’m glad I’m not alone lol. Iv currently got 2 “adult” books on the go and I’m reading the Moomins series. Last year I re-read Tom’s Midnight Garden and The Little White Horse it’s nice to read something simple sometimes when you are too tired to really concentrate.
I re-read “The Fairy Rebel” by Lynne Reid Banks every few years or so. That one just really captivated me as a girl, and was the first thing that really got me into fairies.
I have all fourteen of Baum’s Oz series. I bought them to do research for a play I was writing. Written for children, but I began to realize as an adult that the whole trip to Oz (as the series progresses) leads to enlightenment, anyway, CS Lewis’ Narnia series has the same resolution; but HC Ancerson’s fairy tales are my favorite
I read Little Women over and over again
