I guess it depends what kind of books you like. They’re both good in different ways. Asoiaf is like a dense history book and tog is a soap opera dressed as fantasy.

They are both good, but ASOIAF is a much more heavier read than TOG. And the series is not finished yet either, but TOG is, so I would start with that. 🙂

ToG. Song of ice and fire has no ending. The author does not seem like he is interested in finishing the series. Read song of ice and fire if you like great characters and story and like being disappointed.

They aren’t really comparable… It really comes down to what you are in the mood for. Compared to AsoIaF, TOG is more… carefree and reader-friendly. It’s YA character is evident throughout the series. ASoIaF, on the other hand, excels in terms of worldbuilding and plot depth. Both are good (though I personally prefer ASoIaF) -the fact that you are staying for the long game in both of them is what they have in common- but ASoIaF is traditional fantasy and more… broad(?) The multiple perspectives (since they are introduced early on) are handled with much more finesse in it, I think. If you decide to read both of them eventually, I’d start with TOG (seeing that its last book is out and we all should avoid spoilers) and then move on to ASoIaF… Enjoy!

Agree with those who have said that you can’t really compare the two. It depends what you’re more in the mood for.

Read them both at the same time! That’s what I did and it didn’t get confusing at all because they were completely different. Personally Song of Ice and Fire is better than Throne of Glass but they’re both worth the read.

It depends, despite both being high fantasy, one is more YA and the other not so at all… A Song of Ice and Fire is really good, but you will find controversial scenes including rape and such, but the story is amazing and so good – if you haven’t seen the tv show that is – but A Throne of Glass is really romanticized and also weird about diversity, where it kills off a lot of characters that belong to minorities.

Song of Ice and Fire then TOG or you can read both at the same time. ASOIAF can take a while to get through.
