I have books in most places except the kitchen (have cookbooks there) and the bathrooms! That said, they are fairly well-organized where they are.

I have bookshelves but I need one more.LOL. Even though I worked in libraries my books are not alphabetized. Mostly just separated between fiction and non -fiction and grouped by author.

Organizer. If I read one and it’s not a favorite, I donate or sell it.

The books in my living room (which I call my library), office, and spare bedroom are organized by genre (my husband’s idea) and then alphabetized by author’s last name (my idea). The books on my TBR shelf and my daughter’s bookcases are just randomly on the shelves.

Organizer. Keep by author on shelves and only keep my favesb donate others. Keep TBR books separate from faves I’ve finished. Keep excel lists of everything I’ve read going back 15 years complete with my rating and 2 sentence synopsis. I’m a bit fanatical. ?

I’m typically very organized; however, there are books all over my house (and a couple in my car…just in case)

Mine are in my shelf unless I’m reading it. Then they’re all over the place

Mine have been alphabetized for over 10 years by author, by year written. It was the best thing I ever did! I kept rebuying books. Now I don’t. I also use Book Crawler and Goodreads to keep track of what I own and what I’ve read for when I’m out and about and see something I might want to read.

Haven’t heard of Book Crawler.

@Elena I love it. It lets you store all the books you own. You scan the upc and it puts it in alphabetical order. You can separate genres. I use it to see if I already own a book. I scan as soon as I buy so I don’t double up.

I am an organizer. I have shelves for my read books in the order I have read them and a shelf of to-be-read books. ?

My shelves need some serious reorganize, because they are spilling over the shelves, and now I have stacks again on tables all over my house.

I have books everywhere lol my books on my shelf aren’t organized by any specific thing, though I have them kept together by author. I do have a shelf for just Paranormal tho.

Organized. I keep out only the book I am currently reading and it goes right back to the shelf when Iam finished with it. I have to do it that way to keep my kids from tearing up my books. They’re not overly destructive; they’re just careless.

I have outgrown my shelves and am considering going through library book sale purchases and getting rid of a ton…I don’t have the space and a lot of them were “maybe read” purchases anyway. Help! I think my husband is getting quite annoyed because they are all in our bedroom! Has anyone gotten rid of a bunch without reading them?!

I always clear books off shelves before getting new ones. Most often I’ve read them but I will also read blurbs and if it doesn’t interest me I’ll get rid of it too

I recently donated around 150 books to a Memory Care Center by me. They were so appreciative the first time from my first 4 shelved I ended up going through the last 3.

@Lucille What a great idea!

Lucille

@Elena thank you. I felt so good walking out. I had almost 500 books and I hadn’t gone through them in years. I figured that was a good excuse. Had books that I don’t really read that type anymore.

Absolutely an organiser. My absolute joy in life is getting new books, unpacking my shelves and getting the new babies into their space.

I have an entire walk-in closet dedicated to books, and I still have book cases, and piles of books everywhere. I am slowly getting more organized and donating the books that I am not going to read again

Walk-in book closet! Why didn’t I think of that!

Makes it easy for me to close the door, and walk away at times when the books start to multiplying 🙂

I have a couple of bookcases upstairs in the bonus room, but most of my yet-to-be-reads are downstairs in the front hall, piled in separate piles on the antique bar cabinet and several chairs – in categories that only I can figure out (and sometimes, I must admit, I have a bit of trouble figuring them out myself).

Books upstairs in my bookcase, decorating books on side table in sun room with lamp on top, books under same table with some photos on top, books in a basket on the coffee table, books on shelf under the coffee table. Oh and my magazines are in a basket under side table. But, they’re all neat and organized.

I am almost embarrassed to share this. I have book cases in every room. Books piled on every table and night stand. For years I have wanted to organise my books like a library. So one evening, a couple of years ago, it just happened. I started and didn’t stop until there was organization of genres amongst my books. I am ashamed also to admit that I regret giving away so many great books. I wish that I had them back. I am a selfish bibliophile.
