There was a story that the school at the top of the street I grew up on was haunted by a lady in white, I went to a different school, so eventually when we to see the ‘ghost’ everyone was annoyed that I pointed out that it wasn’t a ghost but a statue of the Virgin Mary☺️
There is a home on the highway by our home and the house is shaped like an octagon. The person who built it thought the devil lived in the corner. For years the house was empty and no one wanted to live there.
That is creepy Amy?
That is a creepy story
I’m from Texas, born and raised. Last year I moved to my fiancés home town in MI. The urban legend here is the Michigan dog man, which is something similar to a werewolf. Creepy simply because of how much untouched forest there is out here and up in the U.P.
When I lived in Mexico many years ago, I was about 11-12 years old, at night I would hear chains being dragged across the roof of our house. Nobody would hear them but me. Eventually my brother and sister would hear it too. So, I told my parents and they also said that they had heard it! Mind you we had just moved into it. When speaking with one of the neighbors she later on told us that the house belonged to a greedy man. He had family but because of his stinginess and greed lost touch with them. He had lots of riches. When family would be in need they would seek him for help and he never helped. One day, he decided to bury all his money and valuables but with old age he forgot where he had them. He needed that money in order to survive and for treatments since he was getting sick. Well story says that when he passed he could never rest in peace and so his soul never did make the “crossing over “ to another life. Instead he is attached to chains looking for his lost money and valuables. When we heard this story my dad decided to call a priest to bless the house and since then I never heard the drag of the chains on the roof. We eventually moved back to the U.S. a couple years after.
True story. Two words. Ed Gein.?
My goodness hen, I read about Ed Gein, he was awful?
@Paula Pretty creepy right? It was a huge deal around here. About 50 miles from our house!!?
@Michele that must have been scary, I think, it’s just the idea of it ? x
I live S of Joplin, Missouri where The Spooklight has been creeping people out for MANY decades. I’ve watched for it maybe 5 or 6 times. Only saw it once but I will never forget it!
A man killed his wife and dumped her body into a wood chipper, and then the remains into a lake- its true, its even been on forensic files! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Helle_Crafts
Ooohhh, shades of Fargo!
@Michele whats that?
@Tara In the movie “Fargo” a guy puts a dead body through a wood chipper to get rid of the evidence!
@Michele oh! Ive never seen that ?
I remember this…about 20 mins from me
@Michele apologies, slightly off topic☺️I finally watched ‘Fargo’ this year after I watched the tv series, I love the tv series & now the film too x
@Paula, John and I LOVED this movie! Buscemi, McDormand and Macy were hysterical!
@Michele it’s like the perfect package of characters, I love Marge, she’s tenacious x
Paula McGerr She was hysterical, and I absolutely love the way the characters use that exaggerated Minnesota accent! Great, great movie!!!?
Our house is haunted by Benny, our dog we lost to heart disease 9mths ago. He loves balloons and we still leave a few blown up around the house. At night we’ll be reading in bed & suddenly a balloon will pop out in the lounge room. That’s happened a bunch of times. Also I hear ‘something’ jump off our bed & land on the floor. Benny slept on our bed. Also he passed away at 11am & when washing the clothes & I walk into the laundry I look at the time left on the washing machine and 9 times out of 10 it will have 11mins remaining ??
I think this is sweet though.
@Jennifer oh yes. We know he’s here & we love that ☺️
Aww sweet Benny, he must love you guys a lot. Bless him.
They have a book about where I’m originally from lol there’s a couple that I know of that are probably featured in the book like gravity hill I believe it’s called where you can put your car in neutral sprinkle power on the back of the car and itd be pushed back up with hand prints on it. in the town I grew up there was a legend that there was a portal to hell in an abandoned tunnel system of some kind.. I’m in Iowa now. I’ve heard one story, something to do with fights with native Americans, but I forget.
Hey @David, you from Philly? I’ve heard that story around here too. Close enough to Jersey
Originally from northern Jersey but I’ve spent some time down south. South Jersey has a lot of good stories too, like the Jersey devil.. I forget exactly where the hill is, I’d have to look it up..
We have Dead Woman Crossing.
Can’t remember the exact story, but something to do with a dead woman ?
My husband always tells my.kids about an old bus driver named Old Man Clutch who would kidnap little kids. So if they have a substitute bus driver on ANY Friday the 13th, they aren’t supposed to get on the bus.
