Yes, loved them both, but when you think about it there was a lot of overacting in Gone with the Wind.

@Wendy It may seem like over acting to us, but at the time it wasn’t. The film is in my top 10 of all time favourite films.

@Jo I do prefer the book, though

I only have one film based on a book that I was really disappointed with and that’s ready player one. Everything else I’ve seen has been ok and I’m a huge book and movie fan x

0
WendyQuestion author

@Callie oh good! So am I ??

0
Kat

i love the book of Ready player one. Have listened to it on audible countless times. I knew I’d be disappointed by the film so have mentally separated them as entirely different entities. On its own I think the film is a decent enough fun adventure movie. But it isn’t a film of the book ready player one. Character names are the same, and the basic premise is the same, but to me that’s about it.

I guess it would be pretty impossible to make a film that is true to the book though, so understand why they did it. The book is absolutely amazing though

I love movies. I love books. Generally though, movie adaptations are never as good as the original book. For movies that aren’t based on a book, though, I love movies ?

Cathy Bates was amazing as Annie! I’m not sure they could have cast her better!

I liked the films of Catch Me If You Can, My Week with Marilyn and Blackkklansman, all based on true story books. But I don’t think I like any films based on fiction books.

I personally preferred Cloud Atlas as a movie to the book. It’s very rare for this to happen to me.
Edited to say that I love movies in equal measure to books. Most of the time I try to think of them as an interpretation of the text which isn’t necessarily 100% faithful.
I also enjoy theatrical adaptations and so glad to say that both my daughters are enthusiastic theatre goers!

0

I love super hero movies. Action it depends on my mood. I normally like things that make me think. I love sci fi more so in movies than in books I have to admit.

I think I must be the only one who isn’t too bothered. I just see the two things as different entities. I get annoyed if something in a book or a film isn’t right (Americans, Brits don’t say normalcy) but I don’t think about one when viewing the other. I just enjoy it for what it is.
