P.G. Wodehouse is all those things. Code of the Woosters is probably my favourite, also very fond of Thank You, Jeeves, Luck of the Bodkins, Something Fresh, Leave it to Psmith, Sam the Sudden, Hot Water, Spring Fever. There are many others.

I would choose PG Wodehouse as well. ‘The Indiscretions of Archie’ is one to add to the list. I think that Archie may be the character that later evolved into his Bertie Wooster.

Hitchhiker’s Guide if you like fantasy at all. Very dry humor. I love it.

I’d recommend Terry Pratchett’s books. Not all of them are light, but they are smart and funny. I’d recommend starting with Good Omens (Neil Gaiman&Terry Pratchett), then get to his Death series (Mort, The Reaper Man, Soul Music, Hogfather, The Thief of Time) and Witches series (Equal Rites, Witches abroad, Wyrd sisters, Lords and Ladies, Maskerade, Carpe Jugulum)… These two series were my introduction to the Discworld and I love them.
