I remember having bought a collection of ghost short stories (I can’t find it in my badly organized book shelves) but your favourite bookshop or library might have one in store! I think it was from the oldest to the most recent account of ghost stories… That could be a good start… Otherwise you might try Wuthering Heights…
I’m reading The Broken Girls by Simone St. James right now and it’s really good. Mystery/ghost story with some creepy parts in it that have actually made me look up from reading to make sure I was alone lol….

Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Older but good.
That is one of the creepiest books I’ve ever read. It seemed so real!
@Karla I felt the same way. I even enjoyed the movie.
Following!
The Ghost in Love, Jonathan Carroll. Not scary but charming, funny and sweet.
Thank you for the synopsis. I like friendly ghost stories but not scary stories. I’ll soon be reading your recommendation.
Have you read “The Ghost & Mrs. Muir” by R.A. Dick? You might enjoy the book.
@Kristie no, I did see the movie but great suggestion!
The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St. James

Better than A Christmas @Carol
The Canterville Ghost, Oscar Wilde
The turn of the screw, Henry James
I just started The Last to See Me by M Dressler. Not far enough in the have a recommendation yet.
Ghost Night by Heather Graham has ghosts, pirates and shipwrecks. Lots of fun and a sneaky little murder mystery.
Very old book – The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
The Haunting of Rookward House
I liked – The Ghost of Tarawera & The Ghost of Young Nicks head both by Sue Copsey. They are teen books so they are a quick and easy read.
Second Glance – Jodi Picoult
Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders
