I’ve read many psychological thrillers. Tried Paula Hawkins, Mary Kubica’s books, or Fiona Barton? Ooh. One more- really scary. We Need to Talk About Kevin.

The Rebus series by Ian Rankin or the Spencer series by Robert Parker. The first takes Edinburgh as its setting; the latter is based around New England, but primarily Boston. Both are good detective series.
