Audio books

Doesn’t work for me. I know friends who listen to them on longer road trips, but for me, they’re too much of a distraction while driving. That, or I ignore them completely.
I’d much rather read or listen as a passenger.

Rebecca

@Jon i understand. I know a few other people that are the same way.

I can. Had a 4 hour drive and finished like half of the book even though I felt like I’d be sick several times so I just put the book down for few minutes

As long as there aren’t a lot of stops, and too many turns. So long road trips I usually can.

I have to take Dramamine before I can read in the car. If not I’m so sick by the time I get whereever we are going I’m down for 2-3 days. 🙁

Janie

Never tried taking Dramamine first. ?

0
Chantal

@Janie make sure you take the non-drowsy Dramamine or else you will be knocked out.

0
Chantal

I take the organic Dramamine and it’s done wonders for short trips and long trips. I’ll take a picture of it here in a minute

0
Janie

I’ve taken Dramamine as a precaution before going on snorkeling trips, etc. Never needed it on cruises or planes. Never occurred to me it might facilitate reading in a car. Worth a try!

Think I got sick doing that when I was a teenager. Haven’t ever done it since. I’m usually not going anywhere that I would have time to read and I live alone since my son graduated in 2000, so I’m driving myself unless going on vacation with best friend and I rather talk or listen to music with her.
