Finished the book..truly a classic! I’ve seen many versions in movies and plays..my favorite is Scrooge the musical with Albert Finny from 1970. Which version is your favorite?
It’s a good ‘un! I think I read it last Christmas, and probably will again this year, but I suddenly got the urge for a longer Dickens novel yesterday, so I started on a re read of The Old Curiosity Shop. It feels very cosy getting to meet all those old friends (and enemies )again…in fact even the title is comfortable!
I love A Christmas Carol. Someday I want to,have a dinner party where everyone dresses in period costumes, and we recreate the Cratchit family Christmas dinner. Maybe skip the gin-and-lemons punch, though.
Plum pudding sounds good, though. I made it once years ago. It was a lot of work, and I couldn’t get the brandy to flame (think it wasn’t high enough proof).
@Cameron I forgot that detail! I think I would do without the head.
And remember the Cratchit also had a turkey for Christmas Day, thanks to the reformed Scrooge. I always imagined they invited some of the neighbor over, to share their bounty.
Beautiful . Timeless.
Really enjoyed A Christmas Carol. I re read it two Christmases ago. Timed it to finish it on Christmas Day
I just reread it! It is such a timeless book that reminds us that there is hope and redemption for all of us.
Love. It is a story of the power of love. Appropriate for Christmas
I hope you enjoy it. I read it almost every December.
@Bob So do I. And watch it. I like the one with Patrick Stewart
@Audrey I watch it frequently. I like the musical version with Albert Finney.
@Bob I saw the musical with Kelsey Grammer. Still like Patrick Stewart as Scrooge
@Audrey try the movie musical with Albert Finney and see what you think. I think it came out in the mid 1970s.

@Cameron my favorite as well.
I read it for the first time just a few days ago.

Good idea…except I would do without the goose with its head remaining!

I’ve never read this before so I’m looking forward to it.
I love it!
