What do you mean by that?

Basically it takes me on an emotional roller coaster

I feel changed by reading it. Usually it helps me see parts of myself I could not name before or aspects of the world I had not considered previously. A good story should shape the reader.

So you like reading books that cover new ground rather than stay in the tried-and-true comfort zones.

Or cover ground in a new way or a way that resonates at a deeper level.

My favorite books are those that take my breath away. They surprise me and stay with me long after.

My favorite books read like poetry. Like I’ll give you the sun or Eleanor and park

I love books that I get emotionally invested in… the ones that make me cry…

I just go for books that sound interesting to me. The ones that truly stay with me either made me feel some emotion or made me laugh. I like characters that are quick witted.

I will usually try to read whatever the big “airport” book is. You know, the one everyone is reading at the airport, talking about at the water cooler or turning it into a movie.
After that, it’s usually trusted authors, some sort of interesting plot device or a “if you liked THIS book then you’ll like THIS one” recommendation from Pinterest.

I love books that make me forget where I am. Books that make me feel like I have some stake in what happens to the characters and books that make me feel so strongly I’m affected by them for days after I finish them or even longer

I’m such a story horder that I would almost read any book from my preferred genre, but the best books are the ones that keep me guesing. If I can figure out the plot, subplot and twist before they happen I feel very dissapointed. I’ll still read the book but I’m no longer drawn into it.

You have more patience than I do. Once I realize I am predicting everything correctly, I close the book and never open it again.

Lol nah I’m just insanely curious and hate an unfinished story. And there is always the chance I’m wrong

Or missing something.

I like books that take me away from life here. Such as Harry Potter, any book by Rick Riordan , Ready Player One.
The “Wow only if that was really real” type books.
