His older books are the best. My opinion of course.

the green mile- guy wrongly convicted of killings on death row and his magic goodness effects guards in a sad positive way.

I think my first one was The Tommyknockers. That was a good read. Joyland was a great book! All of these suggestions are great really
First book I read of his was The Dark Half, but I enjoy all of his books & his son’s Joe Hill.
In other words, you can not lose no matter what King book you choose.

Start out with fantasy to get a feel for his writing. His horror can be a bit much.
